Position Description

Job Summary:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about sharing the beliefs of the church, is highly innovative and pushes the envelope while being politically astute.  You will have a love for God and a heart for people. 

Major Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Lead Pastor and to the Deacons’ Board through the Treasurer for financials.  You will ensure all aspects of the church’s financials are in order, including, but not limited to:

  • Accounts Receivables/Payables
  • All areas of payroll and benefits
  • Bank deposits and bank reconciliations
  • Monthly financial reports to Deacons Board
  • Annual tax receipts to donors
  • Preparation for and participation in Annual Audit
  • Government filings
  • Maintain and ensure all official documentation is stored safely
  • Responsible for building security (ensure proper procedures for building usage are in place, keys and security access control)
  • Meet with various business representatives and inspectors eg: bank, accountant, lawyer, insurance agents, Auditors, etc.
  • Responsible for administration of Benevolence Fund and Christmas Blessing Funds
  • Coordinate activities with church tenants 

Job/Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of a College Diploma in Business or Finance or
  • or University Degree in Business or Accounting including
  • strong computer skills; financial, accounting and/or bookkeeping experience; understand charity not-for-profit regulations; and be capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
  • 2+ years of  work experience in a not-for-profit organization
  • Must be bondable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex facts, information and explanations to various audiences
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships and work collaboratively with leadership and staff, Elders’ and Deacons’ Boards and congregants
  • Strong ability to influence decisions and acceptance for recommended initiatives, strategies, and solutions
