Position Description

Unionville Alliance is seeking a candidate to serve in the position of Office Manager and Communications Coordinator in a multi-ethnic church in Markham, Ontario.  The successful candidate will exhibit Christ-like character, be a team player and reflects the love of Christ in the fulfilment of our mission in “leading people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and following him passionately.”

This position is based on a 30-37.5 hour work week.


To be present in the office to receive guests, direct inquiries, provide information and handle mail distribution
To manage the scheduling of facilities use  
To maintain our church data base
To ensure that the office is adequately furnished with supplies
To prepare documents as necessary for church/board meetings
To provide administrative assistance to the senior pastor
Design and create weekly bulletin
Design and create weekly sermon powerpoint
Design and create lyric slides for church services
Responsible for design and creation of graphics for sermons, events, and department specific activities
Oversight of all social media communication platforms (currently just Facebook but possible expansion to Instagram and other platforms)
Oversight of the church website including updating events, uploading sermons, and general maintenance
Create, edit and maintain high-quality user-facing communications including: email and social media campaigns, blogs, print media and landing pages
Conceptualize and produce original digital and print marketing materials
Creating, editing and producing high quality video and animated assets to support communications initiatives

Skills and Competencies

Excellent organizational skills and time management
Exceptional written and spoken communication abilities in English

Ability to understand graphic trends and brands in order to produce contemporary and relevant looking design options
Ability to create and build a social media portfolio that reflects the church vision and values

Proficient in the Adobe Suite of applications including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro, and After Effects or their equivalents
Proficient in MediaShout or ProPresenter or equivalent software for church presentation
Proficient to interact and maintain the following online applications:





Planning Center Online

Google Apps


Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook


The office administrator will be accountable to the senior pastor

This individual will be an integral part of our staff team and work cooperatively with others to achieve our goals
The office manager should relate in a caring and compassionate way with those from the church as well as those outside the church as becomes a representative of both the church and Jesus Christ


The salary package for this position will include health and dental benefits and a pension plan.
