Position Description

St. Paul’s Bloor Street is a vibrant Anglican church located in the heart of downtown Toronto. We are looking for a professional, outgoing, dependable and enthusiastic individual with a passion for people and a strong desire to serve, learn and grow. The Stewardship & Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Executive Pastor and is responsible for providing support to our stewardship and volunteer efforts.

Key Functions:

Stewardship

  • Develop and support stewardship initiatives that will assist in the successful stewarding of major and planned gifts.
  • Prepare letters for donors and coordinate periodic and ongoing mailings, including special campaigns.
  • Responsible for maintaining integrity of donor database.
  • Prepare general correspondence to educate and encourage members of the parish in Christian stewardship.
  • Organize information sessions as well as meetings of key and potential donors.
  • Research best practices in Christian Stewardship and forms of transactional accessibility.
  • Correspond with donors on stock gifts and other forms of donations.
  • Resolve issues with donors when clarification or correction of donation is needed.
  • Work with donors and be adept at researching donation and giving statement questions.

Volunteer Management

  • Assist with the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers for worship services and other ministries.
  • Build relationships with individuals who have expressed an interest in volunteering.
  • Speak with volunteers regularly to promote cooperation and ensure volunteers have appropriate support.
  • Coordinate Ministry Fairs and other initiatives to educate and encourage volunteerism.
  • Onsite management of volunteers on Sunday mornings and during other major events.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and networking skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a fundraising role in a not-for-profit environment, or equivalent.
  • Proactive, energetic team player with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate, resolve conflict and coach others.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and provide an innovative approach to projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 with a proven ability to learn and use other software applications.
  • Database experience, specifically knowledge of ACS, would be an asset.
  • Fluency with the English language – ability to speak, read and comprehend.
  • Willing to submit to a Police background check and comply with the policies of St. Paul’s.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of St. Paul’s.
Availability:

Full-time position available immediately. Regular hours are Sunday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., with occasional overtime required.
