Job Description       

Reporting to the Director of Supporter Engagement, the Events Facilitator is responsible for coordinating our robust schedule of ministry events across Canada. The Events Facilitator will work closely with program managers to ensure excellent planning, preparation and execution of our ministry events. In general, TGIC events are aimed at reaching our targets in the areas of fundraising, training and brand awareness.


Job Requirements                                                 

The Events Facilitator is responsible for liaising with event organizers to ensure all ministry events are planned for and prepared to succeed. In most cases, the Events Facilitator will not be responsible for the creation of events, but will come alongside organizers to ensure that they have the resources needed to ensure the event accomplishes its objectives.

The Events Facilitator will work on approximately 200 small and large events annually in collaboration with other staff and Gideon members. The Events Facilitator will not only ensure excellent planning and preparation, but also execute the post-review analysis and follow-up with event organizers to gather feedback that will help us to serve organizers better.

The Events Facilitator will coordinate events in four main areas of our ministry:


Our members run approx. 130 fundraising events annually, and key to running excellent events and reaching our aggressive goals is ensuring that these events receive materials in a timely manner.  The Events Facilitator works with organizers to ensure that registration, promotion, execution and follow-up are carried out efficiently and in a timely manner. The Events Facilitator will personally connect with each event organizer and help to identify areas where events can be carried out more effectively. The Events Facilitator will coordinate with the Marketing & Communications team on the design and development of all creatives including invitations, appeals, thank you letters, and ordering & shipping of materials to event locations.  Fundraising events may also include Major Donor golf tournaments and luncheons.


A vital part of maintaining a vibrant and effective ministry is the training and equipping of our membership. As such, we run various regional training events across Canada. The aim of these events is to help our members understand how to use our resources more effectively in their personal witnessing, to understand our mission better, and to grow in their personal walk with Jesus. The Events Facilitator will support these events as required by acting as a resource for organizers, ensuring they receive materials and resources in a timely manner so that they are prepared to execute an excellent training event.

Brand Awareness

Our ministry has changed a lot in the last few years and we run events aimed at not only raising funds and training, but also at introducing potential members, donors and supporters to what the ministry has become. Similar to the other events listed above, the Events Facilitator will work with organizers to coordinate these events in an excellent manner, ensuring that all events are reflective of the dynamic and Christ-centred heart that we have.

Regional & National Events

Each year, we run 8-10 regional events (regions are roughly broken down by province) and one National event designed to provide our membership and partners with a vision of the future of the ministry, recollection of the past year’s blessings from God, and to provide ministry training to them. These events are crucial for the development and encouragement of our membership across Canada, and the coordination of these events will be a key responsibility of the Events Facilitator.


Desired Experience

The ideal candidate would possess the following experience:

  • Experience in event planning and administration utilizing project management methodologies
  • Experience in working with a team to execute initiatives
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Experience working closely with church leaders
  • Has successfully coordinated multiple, simultaneous events
  • Experience in utilizing event management and registration technology
  • Working in an innovative, fast-paced workplace
  • Some experience working in the Christian non-profit sector is a plus


Skills Required         

The ideal candidate is:

  • Strong communicator able to communicate detailed procedures to people of varied administrative abilities
  • Passionate about details!  Someone who gets excited thinking about processes and checklists
  • Capable of creating/improving processes
  • Described as a multi-tasker
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks, events and relationships without dropping them
  • A great team player, able to collaborate within their team and with other departments
