Position Description

Role Summary
A vital part of Knox Camps, Senior Leaders are a hybrid of LIT supporters and camper leaders: the ‘front line’ — in charge of loving and caring for campers, as well as managing their activity and modelling for Leaders-in-Training. These individuals will be marked by a desire to give of themselves in selfless service. A Senior Leader needs to be energetic, able to receive constructive feedback, attentive to the needs of kids and a team-player. The person in this role will report to & be supported by either the Kids or Youth Coordinator.

Competencies, Gifting and Qualifications
• Have a personal relationship with Jesus which is evident in a dedication to serve Him
• Experience working in camp environments, with a problem-solving and team-minded attitude
• Experience as a mentor, leader or camp counsellor to children/youth, ages 6-14
• A desire to help children and youth understand biblical truths and God’s love
• Agreement with and adherence to the Knox Church Lifestyle & Morality statement
• Current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Senior Leaders should be at least 19 years old

Areas of Responsibility
Staff Prep/Training Days | 1 Saturday (0.25 week) + 1 Week
• Attend and be punctual for all Staff Training, Program Prep & Team-Building days (dates to be provided at Interview)

Kids Day Camp & Overnight | 7.25 weeks
• Act as primary caregiver for campers assigned to your Day Camp Squad or Overnight Cabin
• Be punctual, prepared, and purposeful in all the program aspects of the day which they are part of
• Prepare for & lead one activity daily (ie. Crafts, Sports, Music, Drama, etc)
• Be accountable to the team and to their commitments
• Be a resource for other leaders and be an effective team member
• Provide leadership as a Senior Leader to an LIT who is paired with them for one or two weeks. This includes modelling excellent care and support of campers as well as servant leadership, giving constructive feedback on a daily basis, and including the LIT as an equal, a co-leader.
• Reach out for support from your teammates and be honest with your Coordinator about what you need
• Be a good representative of Knox Camps and, more importantly, Jesus Christ in what you say and do
• Give leadership at Knox Overnight Camp (dates to be confirmed, generally second last week of August)

Commitment & Compensation
This role is an 8.5-week commitment.
Total Compensation: $4462 (approx $14/hr) + 4% vacation pay
