Position Description

Reports To: Senior Pastor and Elder Board

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Pay:  Regular Full Time (salary) $16-$27 per hour – Negotiable and commensurate with experience

 

SUMMARY

The Youth & Children Ministries Pastor shall develop, oversee and be the primary implementer of Youth and Children Programs within church (evangelism, spiritual growth, fellowship and service).
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
  • Has a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Possesses strong biblical and theological background with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 2 or more years’ experience in youth and children ministries.
  • Gifted and is called to children and youth ministry. Loves spending extended periods of time with students.
  • Has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to use social media.
  • Has very strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • A self-motivated leader, engaging teacher, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents, and staff in a multicultural congregation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, lead and organize all activities, events and spiritual direction for students from Grade 1-12 at FFC.
  • Implement fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities.
  • Attend all children’s and youth activities on a weekly basis to provide support and direction, both practically and spiritually, to volunteers.
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with students, leaders and their families.
  • Recruit, train, and sustain volunteers for the positions of teachers, helpers, etc. on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide mentoring and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis if required.
  • Equip youth leaders spiritually, outside of activity time, to improve their ability to lead small-groups “squads”.

 

EXPECTATIONS

  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus and a deep love for His Church, Passion for children and mentoring youth.
  • Preach and teach on occasion in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
  • Present semi-annual ministry updates, yearly budget and goals for the coming year to the Board of Elders.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Accountability — ultimately responsible to the Board of Elders and is accountable to them through the Senior Pastor in the performance of duties.
