Experience
Work Experience

September 2009 - Knox Presbyterian Church

Outreach Intern

Currently working 30 hours a month with the evening young adult congregation to determine points of contact with our neighbours and to equip the congregation to make these connections.

May 2006 - November 2007 Calvary Baptist Church

I worked part-time as a church administrator where I produced the bulletins, arranged meetings, greeted and helped the public and acted as an assistant to the pastor as needed. Equipping the various ministry teams and ensuring appropriate communication across the church was fundamental to the position and provided me with a good foundation in understanding the dynamics of ministry within a church setting.

1989 – 2004 North York General Hospital
Various positions including Data Analyst, Supervisor of Patient Registration and Health Record Technician.

Volunteer Experience

2009 Home Missions Committee, Toronto Classis (CRC)

In January I was asked to sit on the Home Missions Committee for a one year term.

2008 Community Relations Coordinator, Willowdale Christian Reformed Church

In early 2008 I created the role of a community networker in order to create ties with out community. In this continuing role I have investigated the desire for a network of neighbourhood churches, joined a local network of community workers and have brought forward opportunities for community involvement to the laity. Future plans for this role include providing a space for parishioners to share their stories of their work and life in the community with the aim of determining how the church can best assist them in this missional work.

2008 Liturgy Team Leader, Willowdale Christian Reformed Church

From September to January I led the newly created Liturgy Team to replace part of the role of the recently vacant Worship Director position. In addition to leading the team, I created the worship liturgies involving both the selection of music and spoken word using a traditional liturgical approach. As the pulpit was vacant and we were without a permanent pianist, this required working closely with others to ensure that the worship service not only glorified God but made the best use of the differing talents of supply preachers and musicians.

2006 Internship with Calvary Baptist Church and
Clearview Christian Reformed Church

From May to September I interned with these two churches where I produced and presented a portion of a small group series on the intervention of Christ in healing woundedness, preached, led worship, participated in a small group setting with Alpha graduates, developed, coordinated and provided a community BBQ, and visited parishioners as a pastoral resource.

2004 – 2005 Outreach Team Leader, Willowdale Christian Reformed Church
As the church’s first Outreach Team Leader I created both the team and the mandate in an effort to help our church enlarge our focus to our surrounding neighbourhood. Educating the congregation and providing the foundation for future work was the first steps in this process. Unfortunately, my term was for only a year but I found this opportunity a good blend to meet my desire to provide evangelism, administration and pastoral care.

2003 – 2005 Alpha, Willowdale Christian Reformed Church
Started as an Alpha helper and worked as a Coordinator the second year. Enjoyed interacting with non-Christians and seekers. Coordinated the weekend away, training for the team and provided pastoral support for the team through encouragement, prayer and guidance.

2004 Missions Trip to Dominican Republic
Participated within a team of ten in a 10 day mission trip to build a church for a village in the Dominican Republic with Christian Reformed World Missions. It was during this trip that I decided to go to Tyndale full time and test my call to ministry.

Skills/Interests/Awards
May 2007 Received the Percy H. Harris/J.C. Macaulay Award in Ministry Studies for highest academic standing in Ministry Studies.
May 2006 Received the Stanley A. Boswell Speaking Award for the best (speaking)/preaching presentation.

Attend many conferences as time allows to learn more about what other churches are doing and for my own spiritual growth.
