Position Description

Westhill Park Baptist Church in Regina, Saskatchewan is seeking a passionate follower of Jesus who believes God has gifted them and called them to develop and grow our Youth & Young Adults’ ministries. This position will be responsible for giving leadership to our Youth & Young Adult ministry and help us become a better community where people meet Jesus and become more like Him everyday.

We are looking for a person who loves Jesus and his church, with a passion to see all age groups engaged in the mission of Jesus. They must love a team work setting, and prioritize the training and developing leaders. They must be willing to develop others into spiritual maturity and not afraid to try new things to help those within our community step outside of their comfort zone and grow as disciples of Christ. Applicants with a post secondary education, and theological training are preferred.

Westhill Park Baptist Church is a multigenerational Baptist congregation of about 300 people, affiliated to the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC), and the Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM). The successful candidate will be licensed and ordained under the CBWC. We are committed to incarnational missional ministry throughout the city of Regina, with particular focus on, our immediate neighbourhood of Westhill, Fairways west, Edgewater, Rosemont, Prairie view, and Normanview.

Position Title: Associate Pastor of Next Gen & Outreach

Hours: 40 hours per week (Fulltime position)

Supervisor & Coach: Senior Pastor

Direct Reports: Volunteer ministry leaders

Teams: W.P.B.C Pastors & Staff, and Regina inter-church youth pastoral teams

Starting Date: April 1st, 2024

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and connecting skills.
  • Servant heart in shepherding and pastoral care with visionary leadership.
  • Ability to lead, recruit, train and develop leaders and motivate teams.
  • Ability to relate to people of all ages (youth & young adults in particular).
  • Proactive and self-motivated with creative and innovative abilities.
  • Ability to define and meet objectives and goals.
  • Relevant theological degree or diploma preferred.
  • Ability to display confidence and flexibility when changes need to be made.
  • Computer skills, current digital forums and social media aptitude.

The Associate Pastor of Next Gen & Outreach is responsible for:

Specific Duties

Jr. High (grades 6-8) / High School (grades 9-12) / Young Adults (ages 18-28)

  • Plan, organize and oversee regular and special events for Jr. High, High School and Young Adults to facilitate connection and spiritual growth opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, support and organize youth and adult leaders and volunteers in sufficient numbers to meet the goals of the ministry.
  • Provide leadership, direction and administrative support to the three ministries.
  • Moderate the social media accounts of all three ministries and the leaders’ pages. 
  • Be responsible to make sure that all safety policies related to youth and young adults are adhered to, as they relate to ministry activities, programs and volunteers.
  • Help process and maintain the proper records for Westhill Park Baptist Church Plan to Protect, and make sure that all youth volunteers are properly screened.

Youth Ministry

  • Plan, organize and oversee weekly teaching opportunities for Junior and Senior High School ministries.
  • Plan, organize and oversee special events for Junior High School to facilitate connection and spiritual growth opportunities.
  • Help the volunteers in scheduling and organizing the various worship aspects of the different ministries.
  • Help to organize and schedule various small group ministries.
  • Give leadership and oversight to Sunday morning Junior & Senior High Ministry.
  • Help communicate information to parents through emails and social media.
  • Organize and run annual Youth Retreat at Katepwa Lake Camp and/or SERVE.
  • Maintain and review all aspects of the attendance and follow-up of students through the church database.
  • Oversee youth and young adult related pastoral care related in collaboration with pastoral staff and other relevant church resources.
  • Plan, organize and lead mission trips (every 2-3 years) for high school students.
  • collaborate and participate with the other youth leaders in ministering to schools in Regina though the D4 ministry initiative.

Young Adults

  • Give leadership to the Young Adults’ ministry at Westhill Park Baptist Church.
  • Lead weekly events to build connections amongst the young adult community.
  • Plan and organize an annual young adults camp at Katepwa Lake Camp.
  • Westhill Park Baptist Church Pastoral Staff
  • Attend weekly meetings with Westhill Park Baptist Church Staff.
  • Attend assigned church committee meetings.
  • Other duties as required by Senior Pastor, including occasional preaching.
  • Participate in the planning and leading of Sunday worship with designated staff.

Westhill Park Baptist Church Missions Ministry

Organize and lead our Youth and Young Adults’ missional engagement through service opportunities and potential mission trips, as part of the Missions committee.
