Position Description

Remote/Hybrid - Two or more visits a month are required.

Time Commitment - 20 - 25 hours a week.

We seek a gifted and innovative Operations Coordinator to join our team at Mountain Springs Church, a dynamic and values-driven church plant in Hamilton, Ontario. We launched last year and currently meet at the Mountain Cineplex Cinemas on Sundays. We are looking for passionate individuals who are willing to volunteer their time and gifts to help our new church develop the systems and structure to serve our growing community. Our unique vision is to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and change their world, a mission that sets us apart and drives our actions. 

As the Operations Coordinator, you will be crucial in ensuring our operational systems and processes align with our vision and values. This will enable us to scale and thrive as we grow. Your contribution will be instrumental in our success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Strategy and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to understand the church's vision and strategy and develop operational plans to support their implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamlining, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Anticipate and address operational challenges proactively, implementing innovative and tailor-made solutions.

2. Operational Systems and Processes:

  •  Establish and maintain robust systems and processes for various operational areas, including scheduling, financial transactions, database management, and service preparation.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine existing processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a dedicated system of documentation for accountability and succession purposes.
  •  Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and church policies.

3. Ministry Integration:

  • Understand the ministry implications of operational decisions and ensure alignment with the church's values and mission.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to facilitate seamless integration of operational support for ministry initiatives.
  • Contribute to creating an environment where people can find refreshment, connection, and growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

4. Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to the volunteer operations team, fostering their professional and spiritual growth.
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and excellence within the operations department.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

5. Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee financial transactions, record-keeping, and reporting for the operations department.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support informed decision-making.

6. Relationship Building and Community Engagement:

  • Embody the church's value of "friendship before function," fostering solid relationships within the church community and beyond.
  • Engage with the local community, identifying opportunities for outreach and service.
  • Contribute to creating a diverse and inclusive environment that reflects the church's commitment to diversity.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, agreement and alignment with the church's values and mission.
  • Proven experience in operations management, process improvement, and project management.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in database management, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Innovative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Leadership experience and a commitment to mentoring and developing others.
  • Familiarity with church operations and ministry is preferred.
