Overview of Church and Mission:

OCAC is a disciple making church by reaching out to seekers, nurturing one another in Christ, and being an effective witness in Oakville. Our church community averages around 120 people each Sunday across English and Mandarin congregations on site and online.

The pastor of the Youth Ministry will oversee the development and implementation of pastoral care, and the teaching of the English-speaking congregation from Grade 5 to U12 students. All members of the Youth Ministry Committee and volunteers will facilitate youth pastor to achieve such goals.

OCAC would like to support the biblical knowledge and spiritual growth of youth pastor by providing mentor, praying, and training opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Ministry Strategy and Planning:

Develop and maintain an overall strategy and plan for the Youth Ministry which fits the Vision and Mission of OCAC, while working closely with OCAC Deacon Board/Advisory Committee.

Teaching and Caring (50% of time):
  • Responsible for the weekly worshiping, fellowship, bible study and preaching to the English-speaking congregation;
  • Provide pastoral care for youth and guide them to build and grow their personal relationships with God.
Leading and Team Developing (30% of time):
  • Guide the Children and Youth Executives in carrying out the day-to-day operation of the Children and Youth Ministry;
  • Recruit, train, and equip a team of volunteer leaders for the Youth Ministry.
Other Responsibilities (20% of time):
  • Lead Youth Ministry Committee, keep communications open with the deacon board;
  • With help from volunteers, maintain social media platforms for the Youth Ministry programs;
  • Plan, oversee, and execute trips and special events (such as retreats);
  • Meet regularly with a mentor (such as the lead pastor) for personal development;
  • Participate in the performance review process.

Experience and Education

The applicant must have a love for God, a Bachelor’s degree in Theology/Christian Education, with some experience in Youth pastoral ministry.
