Position Description

Teachers (Elementary) are responsible for teaching children from 6 - 12 years of age. Each Teacher (Elementary) specializes in at least one area in STEAM and sport subjects (such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Sports). Each Teacher (Elementary) may teach several different classes within their subject area. Teachers (Elementary) will be required to observe, build relationships and guide children in cognitive, physical and social skills in accordance with the curriculum built by the Director of Learning (Elementary). Teachers (Elementary) are also required to plan and execute lessons on a weekly basis and to modify their plans according to the children’s needs and interests. These activities and lessons are to include STEAM and sports elements fit towards this summer’s world travel theme. Teachers (Elementary) are responsible for collaborating with other teachers (Elementary) to develop innovative ways to teach students material. Teachers (Elementary) are tasked to promote leadership skills by teaching the campers, collaboration with other panels, and working closely with students for the closing ceremony.

Teachers (Elementary) are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children at camp. This includes, and is not limited to, supervising children during outdoor time, ensuring that the children have eaten their lunches, and supporting and enforcing health and safety protocols of camp. To be selected for this position, candidates must be willing to step out of their comfort zones in learning alongside the children, the staff, and creating relationships with families. This position provides the opportunity to develop leadership, relationship, and communication skills.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Teachers (Elementary) are responsible to the Director of Learning (Elementary)

PERSONNEL

Age: 17 to 30 Years old

Remuneration: $18.55 per hour for Teachers (Elementary) (CRA requirement: Deduction for CPP and EI as an employee of Triumph Church 2024). NOTE: Will be given a Vacation Pay of 4% of TOTAL INCOME at the end of term. 

Commitment: June 8th, 2024 - August 23rd, 2024 (Upon Approval of Canada Summer Jobs) 

Minimum Working Hours: 280 Hours (Upon Approval of Canada Summer Jobs)

Plan 2 Protect: Completed the course and have received your certificate

Police Check (Toronto - Criminal Record Check/ York Region - Vulnerable Sector Check)
