Position Description

Overview

Planning and Leading a 6 week Summer Day Camp for kids and youth from Toronto Community Housing neighborhoods (for more information on our ministry, see: www.urbanpromise.com)

Positions available in Rexdale (Etobicoke) and Cataraqui (Scarborough) and Glamorgan(Scarborough)

10 Weeks (35 hrs/week) - Monday to Friday 

9 am to 5 pm (hours are subject to shift slightly) 

Mandatory overnight training retreat 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Completed 
  • Strong personal relationship and love for Jesus & His mission 
  • Heart for serving underprivileged communities 
  • Heart for working with kids and youth 
  • Experience running day camps & working with kids preferred 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and Preparing 
  • Responsible for planning daycamp program for approximately 50 children between the ages of 5-14 
  • Create a daily schedule that incorporates all the necessary components of a fun, creativity, and safe in person daycamp 
  • Responsibilities in administrative process, including Child Registration, Promotion of Camp, and Contacting Parents. 

Daily Camp Responsibilities 

  • Scheduling responsibilities for leaders, as well as overseeing its completion before, during, and after camp 
  • Overseeing the flow of camp and ensuring that all leaders are aware of their responsibilities and staying on task 
  • Leading the Team 
  • To care for and support the team as a teacher, coach, and spiritual mentor 
  • To provide support and accountability to individual leaders during camp 
  • Leading the Children 
  • To care for and support the children in program, exemplifying the love of Christ in action and conversation 
  • To encourage and uplift the children; affirming them in their gifts and challenging in their weaknesses as to reach their fullest potential
