Position Description

Position Summary

To regularly maintain the cleanliness of all cooking and eating utensils in accordance with the standards outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Health. To set the dining hall for all meals including utensils, prepared foods and drinks, condiments and table clean up equipment.

Responsibilities

Dining Hall Setup: Kitchen Assistants will report to the dining hall one-hour before the start of each meal to set tables. Utensils that have been cleaned and sanitized are to be transported in such a manner as to prevent contamination.

Cleaning Dishes: During the distribution of each meal, two Kitchen Assistants will begin the cleaning of cooking utensils, while the others assist with the food. Once the dining hall has been cleared all dishwashers will clean, rinse and sanitize all utensils and store them in such a manner as to prevent contamination.

Food Service: Kitchen Assistants will aid in food preparation on request of Head or Assistant Cook.

Qualifications

  • Willing to wash and dry dishes, set tables, and kitchen clean-up.
  • Some knowledge of basic food preparation.
  • Ability to work well with other people.
  • Ability to sustain the physical demands of an outdoor residential camp setting
  • Desirous of building relationships with and caring for the needs of children
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate and instruct children spiritually, emotionally, socially and intellectually.
  • Positive approaches to problem solving are a critical skill to teach and uphold.
  • We require absolute confidentiality regarding campers, as well as personal and professional integrity in matters of relationship, programs and work ethic.
  • A staff person’s lifestyle must be consistent with biblical standards and Christian values at all times.
  • Must work within and support The Scott Mission’s Christian Statement of Faith, Goals and Objectives
