Position Description

• Reports to the camp director, working alongside the camp staff.
• During the summer for a staff of approximately fifty, and for larger overnight camp groups.
• During the off season for weekend retreats and special events.
• Oversees the preparation and serving of food at camp.

 Responsibilities 

• Menu planning for balanced meals, food purchasing, and receiving of deliveries.
• Managing volunteers and staff; ensuring proper hygiene practices.
• Food preparation, and dining room management.
• Cleaning, organization, and prep for retreats etc. during the off season
• Complying with Ontario Health and Safety regulations in the kitchen and dining areas.

 Skills & Qualifications

• Food Handler Certificate.
• Well organized: Able to plan appropriate menus and order accordingly.
• Able to steward camp resources well, including price comparison and leftover food usage.
• Good time management.
• Experience cooking for large groups is an asset.
• Able to work well with and serve those who are on the camp property.

 Remuneration & Benefits

An annual salary and onsite housing are provided but should not be the motivation.
