About Our Camp

Silver Lake is a traditional, overnight summer camp, situated on a 225 acre site overlooking a private lake, just outside Kincardine, ON. For more than 50 years, Silver Lake has been providing fun, caring and inspiring experiences for campers and staff alike. We offer programming for children ages 6-18, and host 60-70 campers per session. Our Mission at Silver Lake Camp is to share the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, making Christ central to all aspects of our programs, whether worship or play; seeking to set an example that embodies the value of personal faith in Christ, the importance of community, and commitment to God’s world.

About the Position

Position Overview: 

The Lifeguard works with the Head Lifeguard to establish a safe and enjoyable swimming and boating environment for campers and staff, adhering to all Provincial, Federal, and Ontario Camping Association (OCA) standards. They will perform lifeguarding duties, ensuring all protocols are followed, equipment is properly stored and kept in good working condition, and that all water activities happen safely and smoothly. When not performing their waterfront duties, they assist with camp programming and activities.

Dates of Employment:

June 22, 2024 – August 26, 2024 (full-time; paid position; on-site accommodation provided)

Salary:

$341/week

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 17 years of age (by Dec. 31 of the year of employment).
  • Valid National Lifeguard Pool certification as a minimum.
  • Valid Waterfront NLS is a bonus.  
  • Standard First Aid with CPR “C”. 
  • Experience in and enjoy working with children.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Flexible and positive attitude.
  • Experience in canoeing is preferred. 
  • Previous camp experience is an asset.
