Position Description

Avant Life Early Learning Centre (ALELC) is a program of Avant Life Church. The vision and mission of ALELC is to provide high-quality early childhood education and care to children aged 3-5 years old that is founded on a biblical and Christ-centered approach to early learning and community building. We believe that every individual is a creation of God, with inherent worth and destined for a purposeful life. We strive to foster a sense of wonder and awe in children as they engage with the world, encouraging them to explore, investigate, and embrace a lifelong pursuit of knowledge. 

We are in search of qualified ECE’s and ECEA’s who are passionate about early childhood education in a faith based environment and have the skills to make a positive impact on children's lives.

We are located at Avant Life Church, Squamish which has been operating and serving the Squamish community since 2021. We are currently undertaking renovations to the child care space and have a projected opening date of April/May 2024. 

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to building and establishing an early learning centre from start-up phase. Our programs and spaces are still being finalised and we’d love to take our educators on the journey of developing these as a team. As an educator at ALELC, you will have the opportunity to:

Positions: Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)

Early Childhood Educators are the primary caregivers of children in the learning and care environment. It is their responsibility to develop safe and rich learning environments that support the development of every individual child. Educators see children as curious and creative, capable of their own thoughts, abilities and perspectives. Early Childhood Educators are passionate about their work with children and families and know they provide an imperative role in the lives of the family as a whole. 

Essential Qualifications

  • Current Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate (child care specific)
  • 1 year work experience in the field or relevant experience working with children under 5 years

Essential criteria

  • Passionate about Early Childhood Education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BC Child Care Regulations and Early Years Framework
  • Able to work in a close team environment and communicate effectively with staff, families and children
  • Committed to ongoing growth, reflection and personal development
  • Personal commitment to Christian faith and values

Desired criteria

  • Experience in Early Childhood curriculum and program planning
  • Confident IT skills - Comfortable using Apps, IPads and other technology for communication and educational purposes
