Position Description

We are currently seeking a part-time Ministry Director to join the staff team at Common Ground Church in Fall 2025. We are a Jesus-centred church rooted in the Anabaptist tradition, and we belong to the Be in Christ denomination. As a community of Jesus-followers, we are learning to love like Jesus together. We aim to move toward Jesus and become like him as we orient our lives around his example and teachings, as we build authentic relationships with other followers of Jesus, and as we collectively learn to be a loving, compassionate, incarnational presence within our local community. The Ministry Director should be a follower of Jesus who shares our vision and can align with our Anabaptist values. Responsibilities

The Ministry Director will work collaboratively with out Lead Pastor, Brenda Powling, and with our Ministry Team (volunteer leaders) to dream and discern how we can move forward into a new season as a church community.

While collaboratively discerning next steps in ministry, the Ministry Director will

• participate in casting vision for Sunday services, mid-week discipleship gatherings, compassion initiatives, and special events, and be actively involved in their implementation
• possess skills for administration and organization; some understanding in the area of churcch finances would also be an asset
• exhibit technical competence to strengthen our online presence and build our digital 'first impression', including website and social media management
• demonstrate a willingness to research, learn, and grow in technical competence in order to troubleshoot technical challenges, make informed purchases of hardware and software, operate ProPresenter, edit videos, and use our church management software (Elvanto) and digital giving platform (Tithe.ly)
• support the development and refinement of our in-person 'first impression' and work to implement appropriate changes, giving detailed attention to aspects of Sunday services that either support or create barriers to people experiencing a sense of belonging within the church
• attune to the lotistical, planning, problem-solving, and administrative aspects of ministry in support of our Ministry Team and volunteers - including booking event venues, troubleshooting, work-back planning, sharing and accepting feedback, and offering technical support and training as needed
• preference may be given to applicants with experience and gifting in the area of musical worship

A start date of December 14 is preferred in order to maximize mentoring opportunities with our current Ministry Director, although there can be some flexibility as our current Ministry Director will retire at the end of December 2025. The Ministry Director will work 15-20 hours per week, initially on a one-year contract, with the possibility of it being extended after the first year. Work hours are flexible, with some in-person and some work-from-hom hours expected. Our desire is that the Ministry Director would be actively involved in the life of the church; attendance for the majority of Sunday services is expected. The annual rate of pay is $25, 800.
