About the Vice Principal of Learning
The Vice Principal of Learning will be a key member of the Leadership Team, working closely with the Principal to foster a positive Christian learning environment and ensure the effective administration of the school. This full-time, year-round position combines instructional leadership, staff development, curriculum oversight, and operational responsibilities.
Specifically, in this role you’d be responsible for:
Instructional Leadership
- Supporting the implementation of the school’s academic vision and goals
- Ensuring instructional practices align with curriculum standards and best practices
- Supporting teachers with curriculum content and instructional methodologies
- Fostering relationships with families to create a collaborative approach to support student success
- Analyzing student achievement data, including MAP Growth assessments, to inform curriculum planning and instructional strategies that support student growth
Staff Supervision & Development
- Supporting the hiring, training, and evaluation of school staff
- Promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Organizing staff meetings to align around strategy and instructional priorities
- Mentoring staff and supporting professional growth
- Leading the development and implementation of a robust teacher evaluation process to ensure instructional excellence and support professional development
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
- Contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
- Reviewing admissions applications and administering assessments
- Supporting staff with both professional and personal challenges
- Utilizing digital tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Classroom, as well as the FACTS Student Information System, to support effective school operations
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
- A Provincial Teacher Qualification (OCT or equivalent)
- A Bachelor’s of Education Degree (a Master’s in Education is an asset)
- 5–7 years of teaching experience, ideally including prior leadership experience in an educational setting (e.g. curriculum head or team lead)
- Experience teaching across multiple divisions (a Christian school setting is an asset)
- Demonstrated comfort with data analysis and educational technology, with the ability to help lead PCS toward more structured, systematized practices—tech-savviness is essential, as data will increasingly inform strategic and instructional decisions
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Familiarity with curriculum development and instructional strategies
- A vibrant Christian faith and active member of an evangelical church

This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position based at Pickering Christian School in Ajax, Ontario, with a start date in Summer 2025 (exact date negotiable).
