Position Description

The Youth Ministry Coordinator (YMC) provides spiritual and organizational leadership for youth ministry in the West Toronto BIC church location. The YMC disciples the youth of the congregation, creating an environment where they can thrive as disciples of Jesus. The YMC participates as a member of the congregational local ministry team. Potential for other responsibilities dependent on gifts. 

This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) with potential to grow into a full time role with additional responsibilities over time. Reporting to the pastor. 

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight, direction, and pastoral care for all aspects of youth ministry on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.  
• Schedule, plan, and implement regular programming and special events for youth. 
• Purposefully build mentoring and discipling relationships with the youth.
• Working with the pastor, support and equip parents in their discipling relationships with their youth-aged children.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and youth.
• Represent the needs of the youth and their parents as a member of the local ministry team.
• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of volunteer management including recruitment, security clearance process, training, and scheduling.
• Ensure full compliance with the Plan to Protect for all events and programming, both in person and online.
• Working with the pastor and the local ministry team, identify creative ways to engage youth in the life of the congregation, including Sunday services, compassion-focused activities, etc.
• Investigate and recommend opportunities for both special events and fellowship with other congregations and organizations.

• Spiritually mature. Desire to grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
• Passionate about seeing youth grow deeper in relationship with Christ.
• Excellent communication, relationship building, and organizational skills.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Well-developed time management skills. Consistently following up and following through to accomplish identified goals.
