Position Description

Weston Road Pentecostal Church’s vision is to be one church with doors open in multiple locations across the GTA, inviting people to know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make an eternal difference. We are a passionate and growing Pentecostal church with two locations in Toronto and Vaughan, ON.

We are currently seeking a relational and strategic Assistant Pastor to help strengthen and oversee church-wide discipleship, servant-leader engagement, and small group ministry.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Assistant Pastor will lead and develop the church’s Next Steps strategy, servant-leader pipeline, and small group ministry. This is a central staff role, based primarily at our North York location, with occasional presence at the Vaughan campus as needed.

The ideal candidate is a gifted shepherd and communicator, passionate about spiritual formation, and energized by helping people find their place in the body of Christ.

This full-time position reports to the Lead Pastor.

MINISTRY PURPOSE & SUMMARY

Discipleship & Next Steps

  • Own and refine the next steps for guests and new believers (first-time guests → Growth Track → Dream Team → Connect Groups).
  • Oversee and regularly host the Growth Track process, helping people discover purpose and take next steps.
  • Follow up with newcomers and new believers to ensure they feel welcomed, equipped, and integrated into church life.
  • Develop a pathway for baptisms, baby dedications, and other spiritual milestones.

Servant-Leader Engagement

  • Lead the Dream Team by recruiting, training, and pastoring volunteers across departments.
  • Host volunteer orientations and appreciation events that help cultivate a healthy team culture.
  • Partner with other staff and department heads to build a leadership pipeline.

Small Groups (Central Role)

  • Provide leadership, training, and care for Small Group leaders.
  • Organize regular Small Group leader huddles and trainings to ensure healthy group dynamics and alignment with church vision.
  • Develop systems for launching new groups and monitoring attendance, engagement, and impact.

PASTORAL SUPPORT & TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Be a warm, reliable pastoral presence at the TORONTO location, leading in prayer, hosting, and response moments as needed.
  • Provide pastoral/spiritual care through one-on-one support, prayer, and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to shape and implement strategic initiatives that support church growth and health.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS

  • A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • A clear sense of calling to pastoral ministry
  • Spirit-filled and in alignment with Pentecostal beliefs and practices
  • Passionate about helping people grow spiritually and relationally
  • High relational and communication skills; friendly, pastoral, and approachable
  • Strong administrative and organizational capabilities
  • Comfortable managing people, leading teams, and implementing systems
  • Bible College degree preferred
  • Ordained or in process of credentialing with PAOC or CAOG

POSITION DETAILS
