Position Description

Vaughan Community Church is seeking an enthusiastic, spiritually mature individual to join our Christian Education Ministry (CEM) team as a full-time minister of Student Ministries (Hi-C). This individual will be responsible to oversee and provide spiritual leadership for about 120 students (from both the Korean speaking and English speaking adult congregations), grades 7 through 12, communicating the Word of God, building community and equipping students and student-leaders to impact their world for Jesus Christ. Reports to the CEM ministry team and meets with the Christian Education Minister to consult on matters including various aspects, concerns and direction of the student ministry.

Vaughan Community Church has a rich history of serving the GTA community with the gospel of Jesus for fifty-seven years. We are a member of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direction, spiritual oversight, strategic development and coaching for students, student leadership and volunteers
• Weekly preaching and leading worship
• Attend to individual students through pastoral care as they navigate through identity formation and many life transitions
• Develop, design and oversee all programs within his/her ministry (Bible studies, missions, retreats, conferences, special events, training programs)
• Maintain an open dialogue with parents of the church and work alongside with parents
• Teaching, training and care of volunteer teaching staff
• Attend weekly staff meetings

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

• Has a deep passion and vision for teaching, discipling, mentoring and leading youth to a deeper level and commitment to Jesus Christ
• Works well in a team ministry setting to reach shared goals
• A graduate of or in the process of graduating from an accredited theological seminary
• Ordained or eligible for ordination
• Minimum two year work experience in youth ministry
