Pastor Position Overview
CHURCH NAME AND AFFILIATION
Colby Community Church (formerly Colby Drive Bible Chapel) has its roots in the Christian Brethren movement and operates autonomously under the authority of elders.
LOCATION
The community of Colby Village, which is in Cole Harbour, Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia
RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a full-time position that shares a leadership role with the other elders. A full description of the role and responsibilities will be discussed with applicants and a job description will be developed with the chosen candidate. The primary responsibilities include leadership of and active participation in:
- Preaching Sunday sermons that are biblical, engaging, thought-provoking, and relevant to the lives of members
- Leading growth groups and discipleship training
- Visiting and pastoral care
- Developing spiritual leadership for the various church ministries, including outreach
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have a deep and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus, be dedicated to prayer, and have:
- A degree or diploma from a recognized Bible school and 5 years of ministry experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience
- A gift of preaching the Word
- A pastor’s heart with a deep passion for people and their discipleship
- An ability to stimulate and help church growth along with a gift for evangelism
- Effective leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Biblically qualified as an elder/pastor as per 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Police criminal records registry check, vulnerable sector registry check and checks of any other relevant abuse registries
- Canadian citizen or proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Compensation is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
