Position Description

Bromley Road Baptist Church is seeking a seminary or Bible college student exploring a call to pastoral ministry to join us as a Summer Pastoral Intern. This internship is designed to provide hands-on ministry experience in a supportive and dynamic church community. The intern will be exposed to a wide variety of pastoral responsibilities to help them discern and develop their gifts for vocational ministry, particularly in the context of a smaller church setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preaching & Teaching: Prepare and deliver sermons on Sunday mornings (minimum 2 times over the summer); lead or assist with Bible study or devotional teaching.
  • Pastoral Care: Accompany the lead pastor on pastoral visits, including visits to shut-ins and those in need; assist in funeral ministry if appropriate and possible.
  • Leadership Involvement: Attend and participate in church leadership or ministry planning meetings.
  • Youth & Children’s Ministry: Assist with the planning and leadership of a summer youth group night and contribute to the leadership team of the church’s children’s summer camp.
  • Congregational Involvement: Participate in Sunday worship services and other church activities to develop a broad understanding of congregational life.
  • Mentorship & Reflection: Meet regularly with the lead pastor for mentorship and ministry evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in, considering enrolment or recently graduated from a recognized seminary or Bible college.
  • A sense of calling to explore pastoral ministry.
  • Willingness to serve in a variety of ministry settings and learn from practical experience.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A growing faith in Christ and commitment to the local church.
  • Position is only open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents at this time.
