Position Summary:

At Connexus, we believe that the next generation matters now. The Associate Children’s Ministry Director helps create environments where kids can’t wait to attend church, parents feel supported, and volunteers thrive.

You’ll partner with our Children’s Ministry Director to build teams, brainstorm creative ideas, and ensure that everything from Sunday mornings to special events is engaging, fun, and points kids toward Jesus. This isn’t about doing it all yourself — it’s about equipping, encouraging, and empowering others to lead.

Desired Attributes:

  • Driven & Organized — You know how to get things done and keep projects moving.
  • Galvanizing — You bring people together and get them excited about the mission.
  • Creative & Inventive — You’re not afraid to try something new to connect with families.
  • Collaborative — You work well with others and love building a team.
  • Relational & Social — You enjoy meeting people and making them feel at home.
  • Aligned with Our Values — You embrace our Connexus cultural values and are committed to a small group-based ministry.
  • Spiritually Rooted – You have a growing relationship with Jesus and a heart for unchurched families.

Key Responsibilities:

Build & Lead Volunteer Teams

  • Recruit, train, and cheer-on high capacity leaders for WaumbaLand (Preschool) and UpStreet (Elementary).
  • Share vision and values to inspire others to step in and serve.
  • Celebrate and care for volunteers so they feel valued and supported.

Lead Sunday Mornings

  • Be the point leader at a campus on Sundays, ensuring the environment is ready, volunteers are equipped, and families feel welcome.
  • Handle challenges with a smile and empower volunteers to lead in their roles.

Shape Engaging Environments

  • Make sure kids’ spaces are safe, fun, and irresistible.
  • Help develop creative programming that’s age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with our mission.
  • Ensure small group leaders have the tools they need to win with kids.

Connect with Families

  • Use social media, email, and other tools to keep parents in the loop and resourced.
  • Celebrate milestones and create memorable moments that bring families closer to Jesus.

Keep Things Running Smoothly

  • Help with strategic planning, budgeting, and big-picture ministry goals.
  • Maintain volunteer records, background checks, and safety training.
  • Oversee ministry assistants, midweek volunteers, and other key roles.

What You Bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in ministry or a similar setting.
  • Ability to organize people, projects, and details with excellence.
  • A natural ability to connect with people and rally them to a cause.
  • Comfortable with Mac computers, Planning Center database, Canva, and social media platforms (or quick to learn).

Remuneration: Commensurate with experience.

Hours: Full-time (40 hrs/week, Sunday to Thursday, with some evenings as needed).

To Apply: Please send your cover letter and resume to Deniel Sewell (Executive Director of Next Generation) at dsewell@connexuschurch.com.
