Position Description

Regeneration Outreach Community is a community of caring persons who, as an expression of Christian love in action, are continually striving to provide dignity to the lives of all those in need. We operate seven days a week bringing healing, personal growth and spiritual awareness to those in need within a safe and caring environment. Regeneration’s food procurement is a robust program that fosters relationships with local members of the food system to ensure that all quality consumer products are distributed to those in need in our community.  

Our Food Rescue Coordinator and Driver will maintain excellent donor relations with timely and efficient pickups; the safe and effective collection, transportation and delivery of essential donated goods; and will ensure safe operation of vehicles and equipment at all times.  This person will reflect our core values of Love, Integrity, Hope and Hospitality in all aspects of their role.  Strong teamwork and professionalism is a critical part to this position in order to establish unity amongst our staff and many volunteers. 

Responsibilities 

Food Rescue Transportation & Logistics  

  • Operate a straight truck equipped with a reefer.  
  • Perform pickups and deliveries across the GTA, providing exceptional customer service. 
  • Work in collaboration with Logistics Manager to meet food rescue objectives 
  • Load and unload shipments onto the truck, which may include manual lifting or “hand-bombing”. 
  • Inspect orders to ensure proper skid stacking/wrapping.  
  • Adhere to cold chain management and food handling safety regulations and report any safety concerns to the Logistics Manager. 
  • Ensure the truck is fueled, cleaned, and prepared for the following day’s activities 
  • Donation receiving/sorting/storage, and procurement assignments 
  • Accept and record all donations, and product transactions 
  • Reflect our core values of Love Integrity Hospitality and Hope in all aspects of the role 

Administrative  

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and partners.  
  • Perform pickups and deliveries across the GTA, providing excellent customer service.  
  • Load and unload shipments, including manual lifting (“hand-bombing”) when required.  
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing orders to ensure quality, accuracy, and proper stacking/wrapping.  
  • Adhere to food handling and cold chain management standards, reporting any safety concerns.  
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, adapting as needed and communicating effectively with the Logistics team.  
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, cleanliness, pre- and post-trip inspections) to ensure safety and compliance.  
  • Track and document incoming shipments.  
  • Coordinate and oversee pickup schedules and driver assignments. 
  • Attend food procurement  team meetings and staff meetings when necessary. 
  • Work alongside Logistics Manager to ensure that incoming and outgoing inventory are properly recorded. 
  • Conduct thorough Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. 
  • Comply with all MTO regulations and safety standards during operation. 
  • Report any unsafe practices or equipment issues to the Logistics Manager. 
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on industry standards. 
  • Other Duties as Assigned or Required  

Education and Experience 

  • 3-5 years of experience in a logistics environment preferred 
  • Ability to manually lift up to 50lbs 
  • Ontario Food Handler’s Certificate is an asset 
  • Commercial truck driving experience is an asset 
  • Class G driver’s license – Class D license is an asset 
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR is an asset

Relationship- Report to Logistics Manager  

Position Type – Full-Time Evenings and weekends as required.
