Position Description (Part-time)

The Part-Time Children’s Ministry Coordinator oversees and coordinates the Children's Ministry at the Toronto Chinese Methodist Church. This role is ideal for someone passionate about children’s spiritual development and who can work alongside the Family Ministry Pastor to nurture and equip children, parents, and volunteers. The coordinator will help implement Sunday programs, special events, and seasonal activities, ensuring a safe and Christ-centred environment for children to grow as disciples.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university
• Passion for ministering to children and parents to build them up in our Lord
• Demonstrated experience working with children and parents in a church or educational setting
• Experience in leading children’s programs with participation from parents
• Fluency and proficiency in English, ability to speak in Cantonese and Mandarin is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Openness towards a multi-generational and multi-language Chinese church community environment
• Computer literacy, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Description

• Lead in planning, organizing, and facilitating key Children’s Ministry programs, including: Sunday worship, annual summer camp, fellowship program, and seasonal activities
• Support the spiritual development of children (12 and under) in partnership with parents, especially in leading children to know the Lord and training them to live as disciples
• Collaborate with the Family Ministry Pastor to equip and encourage parents to be actively involved in nurturing their children to grow as disciples
• Help recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various Children’s Ministry programs. Provide encouragement and resources to support their effectiveness and faithfulness in ministry.
• Support church pastors in welcoming and integrating new children and families into the church, including new families from overseas
• Providing support to the Senior Pastor and other pastors to organize intergenerational programs for different generations to worship and serve together
• Work with the English Pastor to ease the transition of children into the English Youth Ministry
• Completing all administrative duties related to the Children’s Ministry, such as scheduling, communications, record-keeping, and materials preparation
• Participate in regular planning meetings and work under the supervision of the Family Ministry Pastor and the Senior Pastor
• The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will report to the Senior Pastor

Offer

• One-year contract, renewable upon review
• Probation: 3 months
• 15-20 hours per week
