Job Purpose

To provide a safe and welcoming environment for children aged 0-4 during Sunday morning services, supporting their development through stories, crafts, play, and care. The Nursery Staff plays an important role in fostering a positive experience for young children and their families.

Job Description

St. Paul’s Bloor Street is seeking caring and reliable individuals to join our Nursery team. This role involves working closely with children aged 0–4 on Sunday mornings for approximately 4 hours per week. Nursery Staff will work alongside other team members and volunteers to facilitate a well-structured, loving, and engaging environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and engaging with children in age-appropriate activities, including free play, crafts, story time, and snack
  • Leading or assisting with Bible-based story time, helping to introduce young children to God’s word
  • Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of each child in your care
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized nursery environment
  • Communicating effectively and warmly with parents and caregivers
  • Collaborating with other nursery staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation each Sunday

Qualifications

  • Current CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Experience working with children ages 0–4 in a childcare, educational, or church setting
  • Alignment with Christian values and a willingness to support the spiritual nurturing of young children
  • A satisfactory background check will be required

Start Date: Mid-October
Schedule: Sundays, approx. 4 hours/week
Location: St. Paul’s Bloor Street, Toronto
Compensation: $22/hour
