Position Description

Centre Overview

105 Gibson Centre (105GC) is a faith-based community care centre, established by the Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) in 2013. Striving towards equity, belonging and wholeness, our vision is to be good neighbours who provide hope in God, transforming people by building an inclusive, caring and engaged community together with local partners. Our mission is to serve the local and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus (Luke 4:18, Micah 6:8).

Reporting Structure

This position is reporting to the Community Services Director.

Position Summary

The Health Services Manager plays a crucial role within our ministry by coordinating and directing various aspects of healthcare services. The primary objective is to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of diverse health services while maintaining a high standard of client care, according to the Centre's vision, mission and core values. This role involves overseeing the health services team of staff and volunteers, and working closely with healthcare professionals and support personnel to establish and implement policies and procedures that promote holistic patient care, including the physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budget management, performance evaluations, client care, and continuous improvement of healthcare services. The manager acts as a liaison with TCCC and other Centre departments, supports business and financial aspects, and ensures compliance with policies.

  • Passionate about serving individuals of all ages, ethnicities, cultures, backgrounds, and needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and adapt interventions to meet cultural needs.
  • Excels at strategic thinking and planning, people and project management, and able to execute and deliver results under time and resources constraints at times.
  • A team player who takes the initiative to work with other departments and TCCC.
  • Commitment to maintain client dignity, privacy and confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Cantonese. Proficiency in Mandarin an asset.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health administration, social sciences, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in programs or services management, preferably in a community service or nonprofit setting.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills, with proven ability to oversee budgets, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience in healthcare management, clinic administration, or related leadership roles is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community health issues and services is an asset.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with external partners, preferably including healthcare or social services professionals.
  • Prior experience working in a Christian faith-based setting is an asset.
  • TCCC member preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee diverse services within the Health Services Ministry, coordinate and communicate regularly with members of health services and department leads and TCCC to foster a positive working environment.
  • Prepare annual strategic development to the ministry and implement operation plans.
  • Maintain a healthy budget for health services. Manage health services finances, including setting up various services fees and billing.
  • Periodically review policies and procedures, making changes as necessary with supervisor’s approval.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Analyze reports on health operations and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Develop new services, onboard new staff/healthcare professionals/volunteers, and manage health services software systems.
  • Supervise Health services coordinators, intake workers, hospitality representatives and coach work activities, including creating work schedules, maintain current task list.
  • Be part of the leadership team to guide and follow the Centre's direction, collaborating with other ministries.
  • Participate in local and health related partners’ meetings relevant to health services programs. Promote a positive relationship with community partners and other agencies in the community.
  • Provide intervention to respond to emergencies and concerns.

Expected Work Schedule         

  • The Health Services Manager is expected to work at 30 hours per week, primarily at the Centre, with occasional travel to off-site community settings (e.g., schools or community fair) as needed.
  • Schedules should remain adaptable to accommodate health services needs.
