POSITION SUMMARY:
The mission of Prairie College is “to help establish God’s kingdom by equipping and mentoring individuals through biblically integrated education for life and careers that will meet the greatest needs of the world for the glory of God.” This full-time position exists to support the mission of Prairie by providing excellent and relevant teaching in Business and Management. This position will include leadership and administrative responsibilities as a program director for business programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a full-time load of twenty-four credit hours each academic year, with the primary instructional area in business.
- Serve as program director in the Bachelor of Divinity in Business Administration, providing primary leadership in the development of philosophy, rationale, and curriculum. Program director responsibilities are equal to a course load equivalent of 3 credits.
- Mentor and disciple students in the business programs.
- Advise and assist program students in finding career choices.
- Maintain and establish relationships between Prairie and internship sites.
- Remain current in academic field through research and scholarship.
- Participate in Academic Council meetings and responsibilities.
- Participate in faculty meetings and responsibilities, including committees as assigned.
- Participate in designated areas of co-curricular life as mutually agreed on with the Academic Dean.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mission: Knowledge of and commitment to Prairie’s mission, vision, core values, statement of faith, and Community Covenant.
- Church: Mature Christian character along with an understanding of and commitment to the local church.
- Gifting/Calling: Primary vocation is teaching. Evident love for teaching in a post-secondary environment in the field of education. Senses a calling to fulfill this vocation at Prairie.
- Education: A minimum graduate degree in Business (doctorate preferred, but may consider Master’s level with significant experience).
- Experience: Experience or demonstration of capacity for teaching at the college level. Demonstrated practical experience in business.
- English Language: Excellent knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including composition and grammar.
- Team attitude: Must have the ability to work in and contribute to a team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Experience or interest in Christian post-secondary education.
- Excellent teaching skills or capacity in a post-secondary classroom setting.
- Passionate about preparing college students enrolled in a broad span of biblical, ministry and vocational programs for ministry and work.
- Committed to the spiritual formation and Christian practice of students.
- Actively committed to scholarly work and growth.
- Understanding of academic rigor appropriate to post-secondary education.
- Broad and deep knowledge of the academic discipline of education, including and understanding of fundamentals of pedagogy and policies related to teaching in Canada.
- Ability and skill to relate well to college-age students.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Reports to the Academic Dean.
