Position Description

Indwell is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead Indwell, within the structure of the Indwell Family of Companies. Reporting to the CEO, Indwell Family of Companies, the successful ED candidate will lead with compassion, integrity, and strategic insight. The ED will be the primary advocate for our mission, representing Indwell across stakeholders including the Board, staff, government funders and partners, donors, and communities. Providing leadership to program teams, strengthening partnerships in healthcare and community services, and ensure regulatory compliances while upholding and modelling Indwell’s culture and values.

Indwell’s Family of Companies

Indwell is part of a family of non-profits that share a common vision, of HOPE and HOMES for ALL, and values of Dignity, Love and Hope. Indwell is the original organization and it birthed Flourish (a social purpose, affordable housing, development consultant) in 2021. The Indwell Family has recently expanded to include Gather Housing Communities (creating affordable housing communities) and Indwell Housing Services (provides administrative and functional services and support to the Indwell Family of Companies). The Indwell Family of Companies is led by the CEO and governed by a board of directors that is mirrored for all four companies.

  • Hours: Full time hours weekdays with flexibility required.
  • Location: 1430 Main St. E, Hamilton Ontario - Indwell Resource Centre. (Travel to different regions is required).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead program, healthcare, and operations teams to deliver high-quality housing and tenant support.
  • Represent Indwell in the new organizational structure, collaborating with Flourish (development), Gather (affordable housing), and Indwell Housing Services.
  • Create and share Indwell reports with the Board, ensuring transparency and alignment with governance priorities.
  • Build strong partnerships with federal and provincial governments, municipalities, health networks, hospitals, donors, and communities.
  • Guide staff through change, fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging, and thriving teams.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and oversee holistic programming that addresses social determinants of health.
  • Drive organizational growth while safeguarding Indwell’s culture and values.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in housing, healthcare, community services, and/or social impact organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage organizational change.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare standards, tenant support services, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in government relations, advocacy, or partnership development.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., social work, healthcare administration, public health, community development, or nonprofit management); graduate-level degree preferred.
  • Deep alignment with Indwell’s Christian mission and values, with a servant-leadership approach.

Success in this Role

  • Tenant outcomes (stability and wellness improvements).
  • Thriving, engaged staff teams.
  • Strengthened financial sustainability and diversified funding.
