the bridge is looking for a high-capacity intern who has a calling, conviction and heart for ministry—specifically, someone who has a desire to learn more about Groups ministry. Groups Ministry is where we choose to do life together, and where God uses those connections to bring healing, hope, and transformation—not only in us, but in the community around us.
This role will be responsible for coordinating the bridge’s Groups Ministry and provide support to the Groups and Care Ministries Pastor. Together, supporting the bridge’s Seasonal Groups and LifeGroups by actively participating in training leaders, facilitating group sessions, and providing support to group participants. The Groups Ministry Pastoral Intern will contribute to the overall development and effectiveness of the groups by ensuring a positive group experience, fostering both connections and spiritual growth, and assisting with the coordination of Tuesday night Seasonal Groups. The individual will receive mentorship and guidance to enhance their skills in group development, pastoral care, and community engagement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Learn and understand the dynamics of our Seasonal Groups and LifeGroups
- Assist in the training and orientation of new leaders, providing guidance and resources to ensure effective group facilitation
- Facilitate group sessions, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants to engage in meaningful discussions and experience spiritual growth
- Conduct follow-up activities with group participants (i.e. gather feedback, address concerns, etc.)
- Support the organization of Seasonal Group nights, coordinating logistics and execution of events
- Provide ongoing leader support, guidance, and encouragement in their group facilitation roles
- Engage with Alpha participants, building relationships, and providing support as needed
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategies for group ministry
- Work collaboratively with the Groups Administrative Assistant on administrative matters
- Provide pastoral care, prayer and support to individuals on their spiritual journey and in need
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Pastoral Studies, Theology or a related field
- Genuine interest in understanding Groups Ministry / functions and an eagerness to learn about group engagement
- Demonstrated professionalism and tact with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective connections and rapport building with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational abilities and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while ensuring timely completion of tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently, displaying initiative and resourcefulness
- Demonstrated ability to provide pastoral care with a compassionate and empathetic approach
- Very good computer skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft products, database software, etc.
- Able to support and promote the bridge’s mission, vision and values
This is a hybrid role, with at least 50% of the time being on site at the church. This includes being available for Tuesday group nights, from 5:00pm – 9:30pm, and other daytime meetings during the week.
