Position Description
This role is a permanent part-time position with a normal work week of 20 hours per week.
Westside Church (BIC Canada) is one church in two locations in Hamilton and Burlington - committed to being spiritually healthy people working for the Good of our Cities. Each Sunday, 80–100 children participate in Westside Kids, where we create safe, engaging spaces for kids to learn about and experience God’s love.
Role Summary
The Kids Ministry Director will partner with other staff members to provide leadership for the Hamilton congregation with occasional support to Burlington as needed. This role ensures that children’s programs run smoothly, volunteers are equipped and encouraged, and families are engaged as partners in faith formation. The Director will oversee curriculum, coordinate volunteers, plan events, and collaborate with staff to ensure alignment with Westside’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Kids Ministry environments on Sunday mornings
- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers
- Plan and prepare curriculum and materials in advance
- Communicate regularly with parents and volunteers
- Organize special events (e.g., Family Sundays, Christmas programs, VBS)
- Ensure Plan to Protect and all safety standards are met
- Collaborate with staff and manage ministry budget as assigned
Qualifications
- Growing follower of Jesus aligned with Westside Church’s mission and beliefs
- 2+ years of experience in children’s ministry, education, or related leadership
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead and inspire volunteers
- Self-motivated, creative, and team-oriented
- Post-secondary education in ministry, education, or related field (preferred)
Expectations
This role is a permanent part-time position with a normal work week of 20 hours per week. Compensation based on experience.
