Position Description
Knox United Church-Agincourt is an intercultural community of faith within the United Church of Canada. We are seeking a Christian Education Coordinator to join our staff beginning in early 2026.
The Coordinator will design and implement programs that share God’s love with children, youth, and their families.
This position reports to the Church Council, with oversight from the Minister and the Ministry and Personnel Committee. We are looking for someone with a strong Christian faith, a commitment to ministry, and a passion for working with children and youth.
The Christian Education Coordinator is responsible for the design and implementation of programs that will bring the good news of God’s love, in word and deed, to the children, youth and their families within the congregation of Knox United Church - Agincourt.
The Christian Education Coordinator provides staff support to the Christian Education Committee.
Accountability
This position is accountable to the Church Council, and oversight of this position is provided by the Minister of Word, Sacrament and Pastoral Care, and the Ministry and Personnel Committee.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Church School program with assistance from the Church School teachers and the Christian Education (CE) Committee.
- Order the curriculum and do preliminary selection work on the curriculum units. Present the program to the Christian Education Committee for input and final approval.
- Teach in the Church School and provide leadership and support to the other teachers. Keep track of Church School attendance. Recruit Sunday School teachers to sustain, develop and grow the program.
- Provide the weekly Moment of Discovery during the church service before the children go to Sunday School.
- Perform an ongoing assessment of the Christian Education program including curriculum review, teacher training, teacher recruitment and outreach to youth.
- Organize and maintain the Christian Education office, children’s library and supplies including the supply closet in the church and another in the CE building.
- Liaise with Agincourt Collegiate Institute or other secondary schools to publicize Knox programs and encourage student assistance and support as volunteers earning volunteer hours.
- Provide leadership and staff support for events that are invitational, inspirational and fun, such as the September Church School Picnic, Fall Fair, White Gift, Advent/Happy Birthday Jesus Party, Christmas, Change for Change, Christmas, Lent and Easter services.
- Attend Christian Education Committee meetings and staff meetings when required.
- Provide input to the Knox CE Annual Report.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to teach and connect with children of all ages.
- Ability to demonstrate Christian values and assist students to grow in Christian faith.
- Ability to work both independently and with others, including staff and others involved in the administration of Church School programs and activities.
- Superior interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Satisfactory police check.

- This position is 7½ hours per week.
