Position Description

Village Eulogia Camp is an inclusive, faith-based summer camp serving children, youth, adults with disabilities, and whole families. Camp Counsellors play a central role in planning, facilitating, and delivering inclusive programming while fostering a safe, supportive, and joy-filled camp environment.

Camp Counsellors work closely with campers, families, volunteers, and leadership to ensure programs reflect VE’s mission, values, and annual camp theme while meeting the diverse needs of each camper.

  • Organization: Village Eulogia
  • Location: Hybrid with in- person during overnight camp at Riverview Christian Camp
  • Compensation: $18.60 per hour
  • Position Type: Seasonal / Contract (Summer)
  • Reports To: Camp Director

Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning & Facilitation
  • Plan and facilitate camp programs using the VE 2026 camp theme for:
    • Children with disabilities
    • Youth and adults with disabilities
    • Parents and siblings
  • Plan and implement Bible lessons and faith-based activities
  • Ensure all activities and lessons are inclusive and accessible for all campers in your group
  • Plan, organize, and prepare all materials needed for programs prior to facilitation
  • Plan talent show material for your program to be presented on the final day of camp
  • Present your program and train assigned volunteers to facilitate activities with campers
  • Camper, Family & Volunteer Support
  • Assist with facilitating family group activities and worship services
  • Supervise and support campers alongside volunteer teams
  • Conduct family orientation sessions and volunteer training once camper and volunteer assignments are confirmed
  • Connect with VE families via phone or in person to fully understand each camper’s needs prior to camp
  • Maintain open, respectful, and timely communication with parents and the Camp Director at all times

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Attend all orientations, debriefs, team meetings, trainings, and field studies
  • (Some virtual; some in-person attendance required)
  • Attend all meetings with your assigned mentor
  • Attend team devotional at 7:30 a.m., family time, and evening campfires while on site
  • Attend and facilitate team and volunteer debriefs
  • Work collaboratively to plan, create, and implement Camp Orientation Day at Riverview Campground. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and meet time-sensitive tasks independently and as part of a team
  • Operations and Administration
  • Assist the Camp Director and Crisis Team when needed
  • Help with camp setup and cleanup
  • Assist with creating beginning and end-of-camp inventory lists
  • Complete all shopping for your program using the allocated program allowance
  • Complete timesheets accurately and on time to ensure payment
  • Use personal technical devices as required to complete work tasks
  • Engage with the community through VE social media platforms
  • Assist the Camp Director with planning Parents’ Night
  • Availability & Flexibility
  • Open availability to attend evening and weekend supervision meetings
  • Daytime, evening, and weekend flexibility required throughout the camp season

Preferred Qualifications & Core Skills

  • Experience working with children, youth, adults with disabilities, or families (paid or volunteer)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in difficult and sensitive conversations using a biblical perspective while providing therapeutic support to campers.
  • Strong group facilitation and group dynamics skills, including the ability to foster inclusion, manage conflict, and support positive peer interactions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to inclusion, dignity, and relational care
  • Ability to follow VE policies, safety procedures, and duty to report guidelines
  • CPR/First Aid (asset or willingness to obtain)
  • Required Vulnerable Sector check
