Position Description

PURPOSE

The Director of ReFrame Ministries will provide executive leadership and vision for the agency. This role involves strategically planning and implementing policies and decisions. Additionally, the Director will ensure that all organizational activities comply with established bylaws and frameworks, effectively supporting the mission of ReFrame Ministries, the denominational strategic ministry plan, and the mission of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include the following:

  1. Oversee legal representation, official document signing, and the submission of required reports by local, federal, and international regulations.
  2. Ensure financial management of ReFrame Ministries is handled effectively and responsibly.
  3. Manage and refine organizational structure as needed to achieve strategic goals.
  4. Ensure the stewardship and protection of the agency’s assets in cooperation with binational leadership.
  5. Collaborate with the ReFrame leadership team to shape and implement the agency’s vision while fostering a culture aligned with its core values and mission.
  6. Participate in denominational leadership teams to support ReFrame’s collaboration with CRCNA. Attend ReFrame Ministries Council of Delegates (COD) meetings, the annual synodical meeting, and other relevant committees or councils.
  7. Serve as the primary public representative of ReFrame Ministries within CRCNA global church communities, maintaining a visible ministerial presence in media content and public platforms.
  8. Ensure all agency staff are supervised, supported, and have an annual development plan. Each staff member should have a documented performance evaluation each year.
  9. Verify that all ReFrame Ministries activities, programs, print, and correspondence reflect the Reformed theology of the Christian Reformed Church in North America
  10. Oversee all language programs and projects, which are subject to regular assessment and review for stewardship, effectiveness, relevance, and adherence to the agency’s strategy and goals.
  11. Manage and strengthen partnership agreements of ReFrame Ministries, including denominational, North American, and international. Review all partnership agreements biannually.
  12. Explore and evaluate new ministry opportunities consistent with the agency’s strategic goals and synodical mandate. Encourage staff to develop new programming within the context of the goals and mandate.
  13. Engage in advancement work by representing the ministry in public settings, preaching in supporting congregations, and fostering donor relationships for support and growth.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

ReFrame senior leadership staff and senior administrative assistant, as defined in the ReFrame organizational table.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

Qualifications

The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in communion with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
  • Ordination, or willingness to become ordained, as a Minister of the Word or Commissioned Pastor in the CRCNA.
  • Demonstrated excellence in strategic communication and vision casting, with the ability to articulate and advance organizational mission and goals.
  • Proven competence in organizational development and effective leadership of growth initiatives.
  • Strong ability to manage leaders across diverse functional areas, including ministry, radio and television production, digital internet platforms, finance, administration, print communications, and international multilingual operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the strategic use of electronic and digital media to advance organizational objectives.
  • Proven expertise in collaborative leadership, including building teams through effective delegation of authority and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated strengths in mentoring and empowering staff to achieve excellence in their roles.
  • Ability to manage a complex organization, achieving maximum agency productivity and efficiency.

Education & Experience

  1. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, ministry, or a related field is required.
  2. A postgraduate degree in theology or organizational leadership is preferred.
  3. Advanced experience in senior/executive leadership required.
  4. Cross-cultural leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  5. Demonstrated experience in organizational financial planning is required.

  • The ability to have a weekly presence in the CRCNA denominational offices in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, or Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
  • The ability to travel within North America and internationally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • The work location will primarily be at the denomination office located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, or Burlington, Ontario.
  • Frequent video calls/meetings are required
  • Travel outside of the office, both domestically and internationally, is necessary at times. (approximately 40%)
