Position Description
Role Summary
Part of the Knox Camp Lead Team, the Program Coordinators are creative people who plan and oversee all aspects of the themes and the program for every week of camp and help camp run smoothly. They are primarily responsible for the creation and organization of station activities and afternoon activities including field trips and skits / instructionals.
Program Coordinators are creative, good at working in a team, skilled creative writers, and outgoing. Coordinators report to & are supported by the Camp Director.
Responsibilities
Staff Training | 1 Week
- Attend and be punctual for all lead team training days (dates to be provided at interview
Program Planning | 4 Weeks
- Come up with a creative theme for each of the seven weeks of camps
- Plan creative and engaging activities for one of the activity stations
- Plan and organize field trips to nearby parks and community pools.
- Plan out and write scripts for short skits throughout the week according to the theme
- Plan educational and exciting afternoon instructionals.
- Plan and organize Friday group presentation program.
- Work together with the other coordinators to plan squad leader training
- Purchase supplies with the budget allotted to Kids Camp
Training Days | 1 Week
- Assist in the training of squad leaders by leading assigned training sessions
- Facilitate and participate in team building activities
- Be a resource to other staff members
Day Camp | 7 Weeks
- Participate in morning devotionals and afternoon debrief meetings
- Lead campers in opening activities every morning
- Set up and lead activity stations throughout the week
- Act out skits written during the program planning weeks
- Lead field trips planned the program planning weeks
- Responsible for the overall atmosphere of camp by setting up themes well
- Help co-lead small groups
- Occasionally help prepare snack or lead activities when required
- Be punctual, prepared, and engaged in all the program aspects
- Model compassion, humility and love in all actions
Post-Camp | 1 Week
- Participate in debrief meetings with the lead team
- Updating the camp manual for the following year
- Help with summer-end clean up
Camp Reunion Day | 1 Day
- Attend and assist in leading Knox Camp Reunion (typically September 13th)
Qualifications
- Current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Organization, collaboration, and communication skills
- Good creative writing skills or experience writing scripts
- Some artistic ability is an asset
- Enthusiastic, creative, and flexible leadership
- Previous experience working in a camp environment with children ages 6-11
- Has a personal relationship with Jesus and a dedication to serve Him

- Compensation is $18.50/hour + 4% vacation pay for 14 weeks with 37.5 hours per week
