POSITION SUMMARY
Wexford Presbyterian Church is seeking a full-time Children and Youth Pastor who is spiritually mature, relationally gifted, and called to nurture the faith of children, youth, and their families. Rooted in Reformed theology and Presbyterian polity, this role focuses on faith formation, discipleship, pastoral care, and partnership with families and the wider congregation.
The Children and Youth Pastor will provide leadership for ministry with children and youth from early childhood through high school, cultivating a safe, inclusive, and Christ-centred environment where young people are encouraged to grow in faith, belonging, and service.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and oversight for Children and Youth Ministries.
- Design and implement biblically grounded, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive programming aligned with the mission and values of Wexford Presbyterian Church.
- Teach Scripture through worship leadership, preaching, small groups, retreats, and special services.
- Partner with parents and caregivers to support faith formation in the home.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and support volunteers in accordance with the Presbyterian Church in Canada Safe Church policies.
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to children, youth, and families in collaboration with the Minister.
- Work collaboratively with Session, church staff, and congregational ministries.
- Participate in the worship life of the congregation and seasonal church events.
- Maintain appropriate planning, communication, and administrative responsibilities related to the ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A professing Christian with a clear sense of call to ministry with children, youth, and families.
- Post-secondary education in theology, ministry, education, or a related field (degree or equivalent).
- Experience in children’s and/or youth ministry preferred.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Presbyterian theology and governance.
- Strong relational, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- A collaborative, servant-hearted approach to ministry.
- Commitment to inclusivity, ethical ministry practices, and child protection standards.
