Lead Pastor
Lead Pastor
Toronto, Ontario , M6H 4E6
Position Description
Dovercourt Baptist Church of Toronto (DBCT) is seeking God’s guidance for a pastor who will lead with compassion and humility, and is passionate about inner-city ministries. This is a calling for someone who is ready to plant roots in the city and embrace the opportunities and challenges of reaching people for Jesus in a culturally diverse downtown ministry. If you are a dynamic spiritual leader with a passion for inner-city ministry in a fast-growing community, consider this exciting opportunity with DBCT.
Our Church Dovercourt Baptist Church of Toronto (DBCT) has faithfully served in the Bloordale neighborhood of Toronto for decades and is part of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada. In partnership with New Horizons Tower, a seniors’ residence that opened in 1974, our ministry has developed a unique identity, serving both our congregation and the residents of the Tower. The church and Tower are physically connected, creating a special bond between our worshipping community and the seniors who call New Horizons home.
Conveniently located just steps from Dufferin Subway Station on Toronto Transit Commission’s Bloor-Danforth line, we are a visible and accessible presence in the heart of the city. Our Community DBCT reflects the diversity of Toronto and provides a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. Each week, about 100 people from various cultures and backgrounds gather for worship. Our downtown corner location makes us a natural place of welcome for newcomers, and we are blessed to have many join us each Sunday. We also partner with local community services (food bank and shelters) which gives us the opportunity to serve people who are unhoused or experience economic challenges.
While DBCT currently struggles with its regular children and youth ministries due to its older demographic, the development of a large mixed-residential complex in the immediate vicinity of the Church, will provide opportunities to connect with young families and grow our children and youth ministries.
