Position Description

Purpose: To oversee and lead the youth program engaging students Grades 6-12 helping them connect with the Triune God and one another.

Responsibilities:

• Weekly Youth Ministry (Sept – early June)
• Plan and lead weekly youth events\activities which include times of Christ-centered teaching, activity, and community.
• Provide spiritual care to students and youth volunteers
• Oversee all administration of the youth ministry (communications, logistics of events, Risk Management policy, etc…)
• Be responsible for the youth budget line
• Oversee the development of volunteers
• Oversee youth ministry calendar
• Connect with youth outside of meetings as able and appropriate
• Meet with Lead Pastor
• Meet on consistent basis for support and mentoring as well as communicate any needed support for the youth ministry
• Children’s Ministry (1x\month)
• One time per month assist with Sunday morning children’s ministry (either as leader or helper as per skills, interest and need of the program)

** Note ** Currently our youth program meets on Friday nights from 7-9pm.

Qualifications:

• Ability to articulate personal experience of a growing connection with God
• Passion for discipling youth
• Ability to communicate with youth
• Organizational skills
• Ability to lead a small team of volunteers
• Must successfully complete background check and our Risk Management Training
• Computer ability sufficient to produce and post content online (or willing to learn)
• Experience working with youth preferred but not required

Expectations of applicant:

• In alignment with Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada’s Articles of Faith (can be found online)
• Understand that the youth director position is one of influence and commitment to serve as a role model for students of a person increasingly following Jesus
• Attend the Sunday service at Faith (this time would be included in the hours paid)

Support:

The Youth Director will be responsible to the Lead Pastor, who will also provide support and mentoring to the Youth Director. The Lead Pastor will meet with the Youth Director every three months to evaluate how the ministry and youth director are doing, with a focus on development and care.

Hours\Compensation:

This role is designed for 10 hours\week from September through the middle of June. There will be a programming break for Christmas as determined by the Youth Director, Lead Pastor, and youth volunteers.

The wage is $18\hour.
