The Role: Lighting Director / Director of Photography
The Christian Broadcasting Associates, Inc. (CBA) is seeking a talented Lighting Director / Director of Photography (DP) to oversee the visual look and lighting design for our daily program. This role will collaborate closely with the Director, Executive Producer, Producer, and crew to create a highly polished and visually compelling broadcast. You will be responsible for both in-studio lighting and ensuring that remote/Zoom segments maintain a consistent, high-quality look.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute the lighting plan for in-studio segments to create the desired mood, focus, and visual style.
- Oversee camera setup, framing, and movement to ensure dynamic and professional shots.
- Collaborate with the Director and production team during pre-production to guide the visual style of the show.
- Adjust lighting and camera settings in real time during live-to-tape recordings to accommodate interviews, testimonies, and other segments.
- Ensure remote/Zoom interviews are properly lit and visually consistent with in-studio segments.
- Ensure all lighting and camera equipment is operational and safe during filming.
- Assist with post-production colour grading or provide guidance to maintain visual consistency, if required.
- Stay up to date on best practices for broadcast lighting and cinematography.
As the ideal candidate, you will have the following qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Lighting Director, Director of Photography, or similar role in television production, preferably multi-camera or live-to-tape shows.
- Expertise in studio lighting, camera operation, and visual storytelling.
- Comfortable guiding the look of a show from pre-production through final broadcast.
- Knowledge of lighting for virtual/remote interviews (Zoom or other platforms).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with Producers, Director, and crew.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced broadcast environment.
- A degree in Television/Film Production, Post-Production, or equivalent experience.
- Good command of the English language with the ability to communicate professionally with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with faith-based programming is preferred.
