The Role: Sound Recordist / Mixer
The Christian Broadcasting Associates, Inc. (CBA) is seeking a highly skilled Sound Recordist and Mixer to ensure exceptional audio quality for every episode of our show. You will work closely with the Director, Producers, and crew to capture clear, balanced sound for in-studio interviews, live musical performances, virtual Zoom segments, and any special features.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and mix live-to-tape and pre-recorded segments, ensuring clear, balanced audio for in-studio interviews, musical performances, and virtual interviews.
- Set up, operate, and maintain microphones, audio consoles, and other sound equipment.
- Collaborate with the Director, Producers, and crew to anticipate audio needs for interviews, musical performances, testimonies, and live segments.
- Monitor and adjust audio levels in real time during recordings.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to maintain high production standards.
- Assist in post-production by preparing clean audio tracks for editing and broadcast, if required.
- Participate in pre-production discussions to plan sound requirements and strategies for each episode, if required.
As the ideal candidate, you will have the following qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sound Recordist, Sound Mixer, or similar role in television or multi-camera production.
- Strong knowledge of microphone types, audio consoles, recording techniques, and audio post-production workflows.
- Experience mixing live or live-to-tape productions
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Directors, Producers, and crew.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced broadcast environment.
- Familiarity with integrating audio from remote/Zoom interviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Film/Television Production, or related field is preferred.
- Good command of the English language with the ability to communicate professionally with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with faith-based programming is preferred.
