Position Description

Join us as we bring hope and healing to the world’s most vulnerable children, caught in the cycle of poverty and disability.

About Hope and Healing International:

We are a Christian organization, working to bring hope and healing for children with disabilities in the world’s poorest communities.

Why This Role Matters

As Partnership Development Officer (Gift-in-Kind), you will be responsible for leading and growing Hope and Healing International's Gift-in-Kind (GIK) portfolio, securing $15 million annually in high-quality medical equipment, supplies, and pharmaceuticals to support health partners across sub-Saharan Africa, with strategic focus on resources that serve children with disabilities.

You will manage the full lifecycle of GIK partnerships, stewarding a diverse caseload of approximately 75 donors and prospects, including hospitals, medical suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, NGOs, and socially responsible businesses. This role is accountable not only for the value of resources secured, but also for their quality, relevance, and appropriateness for use in under-resourced health systems.

Bringing a strong relationship-building orientation, combined with an understanding of the medical sector, hospital operations, or health systems in low-resource settings. This knowledge will be critical in assessing donation quality and ensuring resources meaningfully improve health outcomes for children with disabilities.

Working closely with International Programs, Operations, and Marketing, you will ensure donors are deeply engaged through impact reporting, compelling storytelling, and brand-aligned recognition, particularly for partners motivated by social responsibility, ESG, and SRI outcomes.

Employment status: Salaried, Full-Time 35 hours per week. (This posting is for a new vacancy)
Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 + Benefits & RRSP
Location: 1600 16th Ave - Unit 1, Richmond Hill, Ontario

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will lead and manage strategic Gift-in-Kind partnerships in support of Hope and Healing International’s charitable mission, including:

Partnership Development & Revenue Generation

  • Manage and grow a GIK portfolio of approximately 75 partners, including new, existing, and lapsed donors.
  • Achieve an annual GIK revenue target of $15M, measured in the fair market value of donated goods.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward strategic GIK partnerships aligned with programmatic needs and logistics capacity.
  • Build a strong pipeline of medical-sector partners, including hospitals, manufacturers, and suppliers with overstock and/or are willing to fulfill specific product requests.
  • Assess and prioritize donations based on quality (functional condition, sterility for medical supplies), usability (appropriate for field context), shelf life (minimum 12 months remaining), and availability of training materials or user manuals.

Strategic Relationship Management & Stewardship

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for GIK donors, ensuring clear communication, trust, and long-term engagement.
  • Design and execute customized stewardship journeys, including impact reports, program updates, site stories and visuals, and recognition and brand-alignment opportunities.
  • Position Hope and Healing as a trusted, professional GIK partner with strong end-to-end accountability—from donation receipt through distribution and impact reporting.

Program Alignment & Quality Assurance

  • Work closely with International Programs to identify high-priority equipment and supply gaps, then communicate technical requirements clearly with prospective donors—including equipment compatibility, voltage specifications, shelf life, and usability in under-resourced settings—to ensure donations meet field needs.

Storytelling, Impact & Brand Value

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative teams to translate GIK impact into compelling stories, testimonials, and case studies.
  • Support website, annual reporting, donor communications, and brand visibility.
  • Leverage impact data and stories to retain and grow donor relationships.
  • Highlight SRI/ESG value for corporate and institutional partners.

Systems, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate records in donor management systems (Studio Enterprise), including partner interactions, stewardship actions, and proposal tracking.
  • Contribute to forecasting, reporting, and portfolio analysis.
  • Manage partnership development budget for donor cultivation activities and travel.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and contribute positively to organizational culture.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Annual GIK revenue target: $15M (fair market value)
  • Portfolio growth and retention rates
  • Quality and appropriateness of donations secured
  • Donor satisfaction and engagement levels
  • Timely stewardship and reporting completion

Our ideal candidate would have:

Education & Certifications

  • Post-secondary education preferred (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, fundraising, business development, partnership development, or equivalent experience in healthcare procurement, supply chain, or corporate partnerships.
  • Proven track record of building relationships and securing commitments from institutional or corporate partners.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, relationship-driven portfolios with measurable results.
  • Experience working with healthcare institutions or medical suppliers is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with international development, global health, or low-resource health systems is a significant asset.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong relationship-builder with high emotional intelligence and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Comfortable navigating both mission-driven and business-oriented conversations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment regarding donation quality and appropriateness for field use.

  • Knowledge of medical equipment, hospital operations, or healthcare supply chains is a strong asset (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly).
