About Circle Square Ranch Grand River

Circle Square Ranch Grand River is a Christian summer camp ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada. Our mission is to see young people transformed into fully committed followers of Jesus Christ through intentional community, outdoor adventure, and Christ-centred programming.

Position Overview

In concert with the purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada — the transformation of youth, students, and graduates into fully committed followers of Jesus Christ — the Leaders in Training (LIT) Coordinator provides leadership, mentorship, and program oversight for our LIT program.

This role focuses on equipping senior campers to grow as leaders, deepen their faith, and develop practical skills for serving in camp and beyond. The LIT Coordinator plays a key role in teaching, mentoring, and walking alongside participants through both structured training and hands-on placement experiences.

Program Timeline Overview

Week 1: Program preparation and final planning
Weeks 2–3: Lead and facilitate the LIT course
Week 4: Placement week — supervise and support LITs serving in camp departments

Following July 31, the contract may be extended into August depending on availability and camp needs. If extended, the LIT Coordinator would assist in other program or leadership support areas.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Camp & Program Preparation

  • Become familiar with LIT curriculum and materials
  • Prepare and update program content as needed
  • Review participant applications and references
  • Prepare devotions and teaching materials
  • Assist with camp operations as needed

LIT Program Leadership (Weeks 2–3)

  • Lead and facilitate daily LIT programming
  • Teach sessions and/or coordinate guest speakers
  • Organize schedules and daily flow of the program
  • Support LITs through mentoring, discussion, and prayer
  • Attend key camp activities including meals and evening programs
  • Provide regular feedback to support leadership growth

Placement Week Supervision (Week 4)

  • Coordinate LIT placements within camp departments
  • Communicate with department heads to prepare for LIT involvement
  • Supervise LITs during placements and provide guidance as needed
  • Offer encouragement, coaching, and evaluation feedback
  • Complete required documentation and reports

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • A heart for discipleship and mentoring youth
  • Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills
  • Ability to organize schedules and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Initiative, flexibility, and strong time-management skills
  • Confidence working independently and within a leadership team
  • Previous experience in camp leadership, discipleship, or youth ministry is strongly preferred

Contract Details

Contract Start Date: Flexible - as early as June 1st, but no later than June 29th.
Contract End Date: July 31st (possible to extend to September 2nd based on availability and camp needs)
Summer Schedule: Sunday 2pm – Friday 8pm.
Compensation: $300 (minimum) weekly honorarium + enrollment in Summer Missions fundraising program.
Room & Board: Included as part of compensation
