Job Summary and Purpose:

Bayview Glen Church is looking for a gifted individual who will provide leadership, administrative support, and direction for Bayview Youth (grades 6-12). This individual will be a part of the Bayview Family Ministry team and oversee residents, seasonal/additional staff and Bayview Youth SERVE Teams (volunteers).

Position Summary:

The Bayview Youth Discipleship Director/Pastor provides leadership and oversight for Bayview Youth ministries and connections, including Sunday morning gatherings, Alpha, Life Groups, event nights, retreats, and camps, as well as additional Family Ministry Worship services throughout the year as needed.

The Bayview Youth Director/Pastor is responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of excellence in Bayview Youth. This role recruits, trains, and mobilizes Bayview Youth SERVE Team members (volunteers), and provides leadership, training, and support, to all Bayview Youth staff and SERVE Team members.

Working closely with the Family Pastor, the Bayview Youth Discipleship Director/Pastor develops and implements programs that support the spiritual formation of youth and equips parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation is based on experience and includes an extended benefits and vacation package. Working hours will require working Sundays and some evenings.

  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
  • Typical work week: Sundays for worship services and office hours Monday through Thursday. When Friday ministry nights take place, Monday will be offered as a day off to help ensure rest and balance, while still meeting Friday ministry needs.

  • A gifted servant with a demonstrated ability to manage youth ministry in a growing church.
  • Mission-oriented, fully embracing the overall church vision, mission, and values.
  • High capacity leader with demonstrated expertise in identifying, developing, equipping, and empowering emerging leaders.
  • A capable administrator and manager who is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced ministry environment with the ability to prepare well and make quick decisions.
  • A person who can envision, develop, take risks, and independently execute plans with excellence yet can also function collaboratively and adapt as needed.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee the development and implementation of authentic, creative, and engaging programs for youth.
  • Empathetic and inspiring leader with a high standard of excellence who is able to recruit, inspire, train, and appreciate Bayview Youth Serve Team members.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in related area of study.
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years experience planning, scheduling, and leading a children or student ministry environment.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a ministry setting.
  • Proficient with computers
  • Experience with Planning Centre Online or similar church management system/software.
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication (both written and verbal) to provide exceptional care for students, parents, and Serve Team members.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in budget planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Demonstrated success in the recruitment and leadership of volunteer teams.
  • Ability to lovingly resolve conflict and do initial counseling with youth and their families when appropriate.
  • Ability to perform quality, detailed work with an eye for excellence.
  • Ability to troubleshoot when complications arise and offer creative and strategic solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides Oversight To: Bayview Youth Serve Teams, residents, seasonal staff and other staff as assigned

To Ministry:

  • Recruit, coach, coordinate training, and oversee the Bayview Youth Serve Team.
  • Align leaders to work together around a common strategy, values, and language.
  • Champion vision and values of youth ministry throughout church.
  • Facilitate effective meetings to collaborate with key leaders.
  • Manage budget and resources needed to make youth ministry successful.
  • Design a messaging strategy that communicates strategic truths to teenagers.
  • Coordinate the curation of Bayview Youth core curriculums as needed.
  • Maintain the Bayview Youth communication and social media accounts coordinating with the Creative Communications Director.
  • Produce strategic experiences to be relevant and engaging for youth that focus on discipleship.
  • Develop and improve a diverse team to communicate and lead experiences.
  • Ensure that all Bayview Youth Ministries are Christ-centered, inspiring, safe, and excellent.
  • Recruit and develop volunteers to lead students in weekly life groups, sunday studies and alpha
  • Implement a system to recruit and train life group leaders; collaborate with life group ministry.
  • Work alongside the Kids Director to create a comprehensive discipleship program that encompasses all students from birth through high school.
  • Leverage digital strategies to enhance learning and relationships.
  • Engage parents and guardians to partner with the ministry.
  • Design strategic opportunities to help parents stay connected
  • Provide resources and experiences that help parents win with their own kids.
  • Leverage digital strategies to keep parents inspired and informed.
  • Influence students to participate in consistent ministry opportunities.
  • Recruit and develop students as volunteers in various ministries.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for additional events or programs related to Bayview Youth such as camps, family nights and special events.
  • Work within Family Ministries to develop a comprehensive ministry for all ages/all stages
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, prayer meetings, and Family Ministry meetings as required.
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information and explain policies when necessary.
  • Maintain personal spiritual development and growth.

To Serve Team Members:

  • Create and maintain a culture of care and appreciation for Serve Team members.
  • Help to foster an environment of ownership and excellence among Serve Team members.
  • Provide training, leadership, and support to Serve Team members.
  • Ensure Bayview Youth Serve Team and leadership development is healthy and growing.
  • Work with the Bayview Family Ministry team to develop and implement a creative, compelling, and empowering training program.
  • Help Bayview Youth Serve Team members to recognize and develop their spiritual gifts as they serve in ministry.
  • Maintain “Plan to Protect” policy and other safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned such as: Jesus First youth course, parenting events and Family Ministry initiatives
