Director of Finance - Amplify Mission is pleased to partner with Pioneers Canada to fill the hybrid role of Director of Finance at their Dorchester office in Ontario.

About the Director of Finance

The Director of Finance provides both strategic financial oversight and hands-on leadership across all financial, accounting, donor services, treasury, and regulatory functions at Pioneers Canada. Reporting directly to the President, this role contributes to organizational direction through sound financial insight, stewardship, and operational leadership.

This is a newly created role, emerging from a reorganization of responsibilities, and is well-suited to a leader who brings clarity, consistency, and forward-thinking systems to a team navigating change.

Specifically, in this role you’d be responsible for:

Strategic & Senior Leadership

  • Provide financial insight and strategic input to the President to support organizational decision-making
  • Champion stewardship, innovation, and continuous improvement across Financial Services
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial modelling, and reporting
  • Oversee the annual audit and payroll administration
  • Improve financial systems, processes and internal controls

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes
  • Perform hands-on accounting tasks as needed
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong financial discipline

Donor Services & Donor Experience

  • Lead gift processing, receipting, and donor service workflows
  • Strengthen donor trust through transparency and responsiveness
  • Partner closely with development and ministry teams to support donor relationships

Missionary & Organizational Support

  • Ensure responsive and caring financial support for missionaries
  • Collaborate with other Pioneers offices globally
  • Improve processes to reduce friction and enhance the missionary experience

Treasury & Compliance

  • Manage banking relationships, liquidity, and investments
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian charity regulations and internal policies
  • Oversee grant management, reporting, and third-party agreements

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and mentor Financial Services team
  • Foster a collaborative, prayerful, and service-oriented team culture

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

Spiritual

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ
  • Fully aligned with Pioneers’ Statement of Faith
  • Comfortable integrating prayer, Scripture, and faith into leadership and team life

Professional

  • Strong experience in financial management, accounting operations, and nonprofit compliance
  • Hands-on capability in bookkeeping and operational finance
  • Knowledge of Canadian charity regulations
  • Experience improving systems, integrating financial software and driving efficiency
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred

  • CPA designation or equivalent experience
  • Experience with donor CRMs and financial systems
  • Background working in mission-driven or ministry environments

Working Details – This is a new permanent, full-time, non-unionized, hybrid position based in Dorchester, Ontario with no required travel requirements.  

Salary & Benefits Details - Salary range: $65,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health coverage, a Health Care Spending Account and three weeks annual vacation, plus an annual retreat and Christmas office closure
