Position Description
Sanctus Church’s vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of people in Jesus' name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.
ROLE
The Central Kids Pastor will be a key leader spearheading the leadership of Kids programming across all sites while also providing leadership and support to kids programming at the Ajax Site.
The successful candidate will work for 40 hours/week Sunday-Thursday and report directly to the Executive Pastor of Ministries while leading multiple direct reports. Both evening and weekend work is required as well as holidays such as Easter and Christmas Eve. Work is primarily conducted from the Ajax office with flexibility for at-home work. Travel may be required to other Sanctus sites on Sundays when necessary.

- To function as the strategic leader and chief overseer for Kids Ministry (Nursery–Grade 5) across all Sanctus sites, balancing direct responsibility at Ajax with multisite oversight.
- To equip, empower, and develop Kids Ministry staff and key serve team leads at all sites, ensuring alignment with Sanctus discipleship philosophy.
- To foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and unity within Next Gen kids and Next Gen ministries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Multisite Leadership:
- Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and support for Kids Ministries at all Sanctus sites, ensuring consistent vision, values, and quality of programming.
- Recruit, coach, and evaluate local sites Kids Ministry staff, building their capacity as ministry leaders and fostering collaboration across sites.
- Develop and implement systems, benchmarks, and accountability measures for all sites to deliver effective discipleship (using Sanctus Five Discipleship Dimensions).
- Lead the planning and execution of multisite events and churchwide Kids Ministry initiatives (e.g., summer camps, parent nights).
- Oversee centralized budgets, training programs, and resource development for Kids Ministries in cooperation with the Executive Pastor of Ministries.
- Serve as the primary voice for Kids Ministry in strategic planning and decision-making forums under Central Ministries leadership.
Ajax Kids Leadership:
- Supervise and empower Ajax Kids Ministry staff to oversee day-to-day administration, programming, serve teams leadership, and parent communication for the Ajax Kids Ministry.
- Focus personal involvement on leadership development, vision casting, and pastoral presence for the Ajax site, empowering the Ajax Kids Ministry staff to handle routine responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the Ajax Site Pastor on local challenges and opportunities as they arise.
- Oversee weekly administrative and programming tasks (curriculum prep, parent communication, room setup, volunteer scheduling) to empower local leaders, ensuring consistent execution through oversight.
General:
- Maintain open, clear communication with both Executive Pastor of Ministries and Ajax Site Pastor to address churchwide and site-specific matters.
- Participate as a member of the broader Next Gen team, collaborating on vision, curriculum, and leadership pipelines spanning Kids, Youth, and Young Adult ministries.
- Model delegation, empowerment, and trust in raising up leaders at every level of Kids Ministry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required; seminary or theological training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of full-time kids/family ministry experience, with at least 2 in a large multisite church (1,000+ attendance).
- Proven experience managing paid staff and leading large volunteer teams.
- Skilled in vision casting, team development, and delegation at scale.
- Familiarity with Sanctus Church or similar doctrinal context preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and pastoral skills.
- Able to provide professional and character references.
