Brant Community Church is looking for an Associate Pastor
About Brant Community Church:
Brant Community Church (BCC), is a biblically conservative, elder-led, non-denominational church, located in the city of Brantford, Ontario. We are committed to the faithful exposition of Scripture, meaningful discipleship, and gospel-centred community life.
Our aim is to preach the gospel, equip the saints for the work of the ministry, care for our community, and see the glory of God spread in Brantford and beyond.
Overview:
The Associate Pastor shall help the Lead Pastor shepherd and shape the people of God through proclamation and education, setting an example of submission to God’s Word. Further, they will provide supportive leadership in the areas of pastoral care, discipleship, training and ministry oversight. The Associate Pastor will directly report to the Lead Pastor.
Qualifications:
- Meets the biblical qualifications for eldership outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
- Demonstrates a growing relationship with Christ through personal devotion, prayer, and study of God’s Word
- Affirm the mission, vision, and doctrine of BCC
- Awareness that they represent Christ and His church in all their dealings (calls, emails, conversations, etc.)
- Christian maturity and integrity
- Relationally sensitive and gracious
- Ability to work well with other staff members
- Willingness to work within existing systems and processes, while working to improve them
Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities
- Minister the love of Christ to staff, members, guests, and others in all interactions.
- Attend weekly Staff Meetings and service reviews.
- Spend time in focused, unhurried prayer and Bible reading.
- Regularly meet with church members for discipleship, pastoral care, and counseling.
- Supervise (as needed), guide, mentor, and train staff for effective ministry
- Work along with other pastors to train and equip brothers and sisters in theological development and teaching.
- Other duties as assigned
Preaching and Teaching
- Study, prepare, and participate in the regular teaching/preaching rotation, joining in the work of preaching Jesus-exalting, gospel-saturated, biblically faithful sermons.
- Provide feedback for BCC teaching and preaching.
- Work along with other pastors to train and equip brothers and sisters in theological development and teaching.
Care Group Oversight
- Oversee and disciple Care Group leaders
- Oversee the training of CG leaders and potential leaders
- Oversee CG group logistics and integration of new members
Outreach Ministry Oversight
- Oversee and disciple Outreach Ministry leaders
- Oversee the training of Outreach Ministry leaders and potential leaders
