Overview:
The Youth and Young Adult Internship is an equipping and training opportunity with a focus on executing Youth and Young Adult ministries. The Youth and Young Adults Intern reports to the Director of Youth and Young Adults Ministry.
Duration and Compensation:
This role is a 2 year contract position for the time period of May 1, 2026 to May 1, 2028. Time commitment is at 25-30 hours a week alongside part-time Bible College enrollment (2-3 courses/semester). Hope Markham will cover salary and book/tuition costs for courses taken throughout this internship. Salary to be negotiated.
Requirements:
- A growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ with a heart for the local church.
- Endorse and support the core values and teachings of Hope Bible Church Markham.
- A highly detailed person who is organized, a creative thinker, is highly productive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
- Passionate about youth and young adults ministry and leading young people.
- Desire and ability to actively and collaboratively interact with youth, young adults, volunteers and parents.
- Attendance at all Youth meetings, Young Adult meetings, and staff meetings required.
- Attend weekend services and all special services/church-wide events
- Able to effectively collaborate on a staff team and with a diverse group of volunteers.
- Committed to being teachable and understands their strengths and weaknesses.
- Able to handle confidential information professionally.
- References with a clear vulnerable sector screening required.
- A candidate currently studying in ministry or ministry related fields.
Expectations and Key Responsibilities:

- You will be expected to adhere to the standards of professionalism and conduct outlined in our Staff Manual and all other Hope Markham policies and procedures
- You will be expected to ensure that all Hope Markham distinctives (Doctrine, Purpose, Pillars, etc) are supported and modeled by your personal ministry in this church
- Work alongside the Director of Youth and Young Adults and assist with leadership and pastoral care, teaching, and counseling
- Some competence in teaching/communicating
- Highly detailed and organized person who is creative and highly productive and is able to manage multiple tasks/projects.
- Teachable, committed to improvement, seeks constructive criticism, understands strengths and weaknesses, and has an ongoing pursuit of humility and holiness.
- Assist with leader recruitment and training
- Able to encourage, inspire and motivate others towards excellence.
- Assist with ensuring all necessary administrative and logistical needs are coordinated for all meetings and events related to youth and young adults
- Report to the Director of Youth and Young Adults Ministries
- Other duties and responsibilities as required
Church Commitments:
- Provide a supervising Pastor/ministry leader
- Provide weekly ministry opportunities
- Provide ongoing personal and ministry discipleship
- Provide evaluation of teaching ministry and other ministry involvements
- Encourage, support, and teach
Intern Commitments:
- Support the ministry of Hope Bible Church Markham
- Willing to submit to the Elders, Lead Pastor, and staff of Hope Markham
- Work a minimum of 40 hours/week (including designated time for studies.)
- A candidate currently studying in ministry or ministry related fields.
- Turn in monthly ministry schedule/report to supervising Pastor
