Position Description

The Bridge Church is seeking a Pastor of Mission and Evangelism to help equip and empower our church for its vision to know Jesus Christ personally and to make him known. The emphasis in this position is in making Jesus known, both locally and globally. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and commensurate benefits. The Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor.

Responsibilities:

• Working closely with our missions committee to foster existing missions partnerships and to explore new ones. The Pastor will also take a leading role in making the congregation more aware of these partnerships and how to engage with them. The Pastor, together with the missions committee, will play a key role in helping determine distribution of missions funds
• Creating opportunities for congregants to participate in global missions firsthand, including organizing cross-cultural missions trips
• Overseeing the church’s local missional efforts as part of our broader vision, including providing leadership and support to existing initiatives such as community events and Alpha
• Equipping congregants for evangelism in their personal contexts. This may take a variety of forms, including classes, one on one meetings, workshops, or however else the Lord may lead the Pastor
• Serving as a resource for directors of children’s ministry, youth ministry, and young adult ministry as they seek to equip the next generation for mission and evangelism
• In coordination with the other pastors, develop a process for identifying and training future missionaries and church planters within the church
• Identifying needs in immediate community that might be able to be fulfilled by The Bridge in order to make Jesus known, and to co-ordinate the church’s ministry towards those needs
• Occasional preaching in Sunday services (approximately 2-4 times a year)
• Participating as a member of the Staff team, including in weekly meetings
• Contributing in other ways to further our vision as the Lord leads, in conversation with the Lead Pastor

Qualifications:

• Personally resonate with the The Bridge Church’s vision as their own: to know Jesus Christ personally and to make him known
• Be someone who loves the Lord and affirms the statement of faith of The Bridge Church. They will be willing to become a member of The Bridge Church
• Have a passion for evangelism that is reflected in personal lifestyle
• Have the ability to equip and train up others
• Be someone who can communicate effectively and rally people around a vision
• Have extensive experience in both local evangelistic outreach as well as cross-cultural mission work
• Theological education is considered a significant asset
