Associate Youth Pastor

Position Description
About Brightview Community Church
Brightview Community Church is a welcoming, Bible-centered fellowship affiliated with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. Our heart is captured in our mission statement:
“To Glorify God’s name by leading people into a mature and fulfilling relationship with Jesus Christ.”
As a multi-generational church family, we value authentic community, biblical preaching, and practical discipleship in everyday life. Our membership actively seeks to foster close relationships; to be mentored and to mentor others.
In 2014, we embarked on a visioning process that led to a God-sized calling: to hire a youth pastor to bring strategic vision and leadership to a rapidly growing youth ministry that was reaching deep into our community. Through the work and leadership of this individual, God has been faithful; entrusting us with over 100 young people to show and share the love of Jesus. We have been privileged to be a part of these young individuals' lives and by extension, the lives of their families. In 2025, after 10 years, we supported our youth pastor in his acceptance of a new role with a church seeking to establish a thriving youth ministry. Over the past year, we have revisited our visioning process, evaluated progress and assessed current and future needs.
In light of the above, we are prayerfully seeking a gifted, called leader to provide dedicated pastoral oversight and expansion for our children’s and youth ministries, partnering with families, volunteers, and the pastoral team to help the next generation grow into mature followers of Christ.
We currently offer vibrant and growing ministries that include:
- Kidz Konnect: Sunday morning Christian education for Preschool-Gr 6 (avg 25)
- Junior Youth: Bi-monthly gathering on Tuesdays nights for Grades 4-6 (avg 25)
- Senior Youth: Weekly gathering on Friday nights for Grades 7-12 (avg 35)
These ministries each have a committed group of volunteers eager to collaborate with the Associate Pastor. With many new and growing young families, we are excited to see God continue to deepen each individual in their walk with Jesus.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Pastor (and collaborating with the broader leadership team), the Associate Pastor will champion, pastor, foster and grow the momentum of current initiatives. The successful individual (or couple) will be focused on age-appropriate biblical teaching, relational discipleship, volunteer equipping, family partnership, and creative outreach that aligns with our mission of leading people—especially the young—into a mature and fulfilling relationship with Jesus. This role blends pastoral care, teaching, program leadership, and community connection in a rural church context where presence and relationships make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary and biblically grounded leadership for Jr. & Sr. Youth programs, building on existing foundations.
- Recruit, train, equip, and pastor a team of safe, committed volunteers, ensuring compliance with child protection policies and healthy ministry practices.
- Partner closely with parents and families, offering resources, encouragement, and boldly explore additional strategies to support family discipleship.
- Offer pastoral mentoring, spiritual guidance, and support to children, youth, and families during key life moments.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor, Elders and Deacons, and the congregation to integrate children and youth fully into the life, worship, and mission of the church.
- Help develop outreach efforts that connect with unchurched families in the surrounding community.
Qualifications & Desired Characteristics
- A committed follower of Jesus with a clear calling to next-generation ministry that aligns with our mission statement.
- Agreement with the doctrinal beliefs of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and Brightview Community Church.
- Relevant education (theology, ministry, Bible, or equivalent) and proven experience in children’s and/or youth ministry.
- Strong relational gifts, being able to connect genuinely with kids, teens, parents, and volunteers in a rural setting.
- Creative, energetic, and flexible; comfortable with both structured teaching and informal rural activities (e.g., outdoor events, community hangouts).
- Organized and self-motivated, yet a collaborative team player.
- Commitment to child safety (willing to complete background checks, provide references, and undergo Brightview’s “Safe Ministries” training).
- Willing to live in or near the Wetaskiwin County area (rural Alberta lifestyle with affordable living and beautiful surroundings).
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package commensurate with CBWC guidelines.
- Supportive pastoral leadership under Senior Pastor and an encouraging congregation.
- Opportunity to shape and grow strategic and innovative youth and children's ministries in a church committed to glorifying God through transformed lives.
- Ongoing support, fellowship, and professional development as part of our leadership team.
